looking at getting my first pinball

From another noob to pinballs, I'd suggest holding out for maybe not a 3k machine, but maybe a later 80's/Early 90's DMD game. I went that route with my Getaway and I still had some things to do, some needed, some to make it look better, etc. but much happier I got one that as mentioned by others, more complete/better working.

Some of the later 80's early 90's games are still a blast and not much coin. <pun intended!>

I fully support this. I sold my pinbot and a baby pac to trade up to a better pin, and am so proud. Build up money, keep watching Cl, local ebay listings, and play ones you are interested in in virtual.

Get a pin you sorta want instead of the next one available.

check the batteries and assoc board for corrosion

check all connections

check to see if the gottlieb ground mod has been done

check all fuses

check voltages

at this point youll know if you have a board problem

I have a Police Force that is mostly working but a friend was going to fix up for me. I would be interested in selling it in either state below book value. IMO a game like this is far more fun, nicer looking, and better to work on than those you mention above.
