looking at a space shuttle- whats common probs?

Have a dumb question...

I know the GI on mine is fried, there's some wierd stuff going on in there...connector is missing and board is charred... :p

I've gotta drill out the lock before I can get to anything really but where ARE the GI lights? Are they in the support posts or what? This is my first pinball and going through the "trying to learn as much as I can before I have to do any real work" phase, lol. :)

Examiner answered the G questions pretty well, are you sure you have to drill the lock out?

Too bad, you couldn't snag the SS, it's my favorite pin in my collection. Mine had GI and nothing else, rebuilt the power board and replaced a bad diode and it was good to go.

You know, come to think of it, this is the problem I had with my PinBot. My Space Shuttle was bought WATW! Woo Hoo!

I've got some small things to try before drilling but it doesn't look promising. Owner had keys from previous owner but lock doesn't turn at all. It's some wierd lock with two sets of pins, different on each side of the key. Gonna try some graphite and see if it's just stuck, may try some WD-40 or something but I bet I end up having to drill it. =\

Other thought from my wife was to try and disassemble it from the top to get a wrench in there to loosen the bolt on the lock but I don't really see that happening. Doesn't seem possible.

Oh yeah, totally know drilling it is possible, I meant shimmying something inside the cabinet to get the nut loose, lol. Would need some majorly strong, thin tools. :)

*edit* And yeah, the vast majority of the lights in the head unit don't light up in mine. There's something rigged to the GI section of the board, but it's clearly not WAI if they were trying to repair the GI functions...

drilling it out is no big deal. I would personally much rather drill it than possibly mess up the cabinet or door. A lock is cheap & easy to replace.

The ad was removed. :(

Yeha i know, im still in mourning. Its one of those child hood memory type games id keep it forever just like my race drivin. I was soooo close, so close.

If i would have been single i woulda taken the lot and galbles on selling some games quick to have money to live on, but as a responsible husband and father i cant gamble like that anymore.
