Look what the @$%*@# post office did to my Rich Graphix delivery!! *MAD*

Thanks for understanding, Ben. Yes, I agree, it will be a pretty nice looking cab when its all done, provided our postal carriers quit drop kicking my package from Oregon to WI.

Hahaha, no kidding. No worries on my end. You've done so much to get this project put together that I have no reason to complain.

I swear, the post office has it out for packages from Rich. WTF?

Do you not SEE the fragile sticker??

*sigh*

Next time try putting a "Fra-gile Do Not Crush" sticker on the box!

Dude, I swear the site just censored the word Fragile but isn't doing it now. Weird

packages

I don't use the post office anymore.
They even crush poster tubes. No work ethic.

I have never had an issue with USPS over the years, until just this past week.
a box that was well packed appeared that it had been "drop kicked" a sharp deep impact point on one side.
crushed the back case of the Atari 7800 that was inside.

the box was marked fragile, so that didn't help much...probably drew attention to it more than anything.

Glad to hear this one arrived safe, despite the condition of the package.

I swear - putting a FRAGILE sticker on any package (USPS, FedEx, UPS) is just asking to have it crushed.

At every one of these companies there are jack-holes that hate their job, and they take out their small-dick frustrations on packages marked 'fragile'. My rule: never mark a package fragile, but pack it like Ace Ventura is going to kick it around.

I've known multiple USPS employees ... every one of them has told me marking the package FRAGILE does ZERO/SQUAT/NOTHING toward how your package is handled and DOES draw the attention of the "less enthusiastic" US postal employees.

You're better off NOT marking the package fragile.

So there are no quotas or incentives to keep claims low? Doesn't make much business sense.

We "are" talking about the USPS... essentially a government run operation >wink - wink - nod - nod<

I was a pre-loader (loaded delivery vans for 4 hours a morning) for a UPS type company shortly after high school and can remember watching coworkers smash stuff on purpose in the most interesting & childish of ways. They would routinely see who could punt stuff the furthest etc... One night the guy a few slots up from me deliberately broke every aquarium that was coming down the line (they were in special boxes) just for the hell of it:(.

There isn't a single shipper out there that gives a rat crap regarding the word fragile on the package. When the USPS clerk asks me the normal question, "Is there anything fragile, liquid, etc." I always respond with "no, but if you could put a fragile sticker on it to make the recipient feel better I would appreciate it."

If you don't feel comfortable dropping your box from 4' onto the ground in any direction, then you didn't pack it well enough ;)

You're far better off finding and using a sturdy cardboard box that can't be crushed easily.
Those boxes from USPS are total crap, made with thin cardboard that really doesn't give any protection.

^ Not that I don't believe you, but surely the big private companies like UPS and FedEx have supervisors now for that sort of thing. Claims hurt the bottom line. I just can't fathom it...

It was RPS which was a business to business shipping company that folded (or was bought out?) in the 90's. The location I worked out of was short staffed and was in a borderline dump as the building was crumbling. Yes modern UPS and USPS locations have cameras all over the place, but they didn't at RPS when I was there and theft was rampant I'm sure. I know I got one guy in trouble (fired maybe) when I told the manager about seeing boxes on the ground under the trailer (where the truck backed up to). If you wanted to steal a box it would have been easy to do so at that location. Perhaps that's part of the reason the company disappeared so long ago...
