I picked this up yesterday. It wasn't an outright steal, but it wasn't a terrible price either. Many thanks are owed to splattergatz and his help in me acquiring this. Overall it is in very good shape and will clean up nicely and be a great game.

Some comments about the slideshow above:

-The cabinet art is in very good shape and doesn't have much fade at all.
-No problems with the backglass
-The first playfield shots show how filthy it was
-The next few playfield shots show how it looked after a little clean up with Simple Green
-The only playfiled damage is to the "Martian Attack" insert. I think I've found all the information I need to make a waterslide decal and fix it. And I'll need to do a little touch up on the orange next to the insert.
-In the last photo, some of the goodies inside.

The good/bad:
-Everything mechanical works
-One standup target has been replaced with a non-matching target
-One LED is burned out on the main saucer
-I don't see any damage to the ramps at this point.
-Flippers and VUKs are strong and work fine
-The GI is out due to burned connectors at J105 and J106. Should be an easy fix.
-The coin door is in nice shape with only some paint gone near the coin slots
-It has been in arcades throughout its life so no smoky smell and nicotine
-It has the coin mechanisms (tokens), a coin box with lid, and the factory coin door lockbar (uninstalled, not that I need it).

Unfortunately, I have three other machines I need to get fixed and sold before I spend a lot of time on this one. It will be sitting there tempting me. Motivation, I guess.

Edit: The left outlane switch I earlier said was missing was in fact present. The metal rollover wire had come off the switch and had fallen into the cabinet. Replaced and now fixed.
Edit 2: Found a set of NOS slingshot plastics inside the cabinet. Bonus! :D

That is my grail. I still play the lottery constantly and that will be my first purchase if I ever win. I even contacted the local operator on theirs. They still have not given me a price yet.

Super congrats. I play it in VP almost daily.

Yours looks beautiful.

I doubt you will ever find a steal on an attack from mars. After playing one at the texas pinball festival this year, it will definately be my next dmd pinball. There was one listed on KC craigslist, but I believe it to be a bit overpriced at $4399 for its condition.

Yes, I'm no expert but I think the one on KC CL is a bit overpriced. He had it on eBay and didn't get his asking price and rejected two offers. It is back on eBay with one rejected offer. It is in Sheldon, IA though, not KC.

The AFM I played in texas was flawless cosmetically, and the playfield was just shopped out with full LED kit for $4800 OBO. It puts this one to shame.

I think mine will look better than his when I'm done cleaning it up and I don't think I'd ask $4400. Plus his is dirty. If you are going to sell a machine for $4400, you'd better at least clean it up.

This is why he still has it. It's been on ebay, mr pinball and now craigslist. He needs to get back in the $3000's range and he will sell it. I think he is comparing his price to the retailers asking 5-6000 for theirs. It is a hard to find machine, but he's still asking too much.

i disagree, i payed 1200.00 for the one i had, was offered 3k for it within 2 hours of owning it. Never did a thing to it other than load it up in the truck. (I also got a MM from the same operator for 2500. Offered 5k for it, so it went as well

Wow !!! congrats on the purchase... wish I could have came up with
the $1,500 but couldn't do it, but glad you ended up with it, looks
like its in descent shape.

There is a difference between $3000 and $4400. I would gladly pay $3000 for an AFM, even if the damn thing didn't work. I'm just saying I've seen better shape machines for similar money.

Thanks. I think I'm going to enjoy it. I had never played it before I went and looked at it.

And I wish it was $1500! I'd find a way to buy a few more of them at that price. ;)
