Look what Atari makes now!!!

Well, they got it half right. Technically, that IS an original atari (Gauntlet) cabinet. And it does have a Mortal Kombat kit in it.

But yeah, I see where you're goin'!

Some people just don't deserve their games. Check out this auction... an "atari original mortal combat arcade game"

I wish I had the space to take that poor thing away from him. It'd be worth the 5 hour drive, but I don't have the room. Come on someone, take that thing and give it a home where the owner can spell and properly use a shift key. Even if it doesn't get converted back, it would still be better off out of this goober's hands.

I sent them a message about it yesterday with KLOV links to Gauntlet and Mortal Kombat. Here is the reply.

"know it is made by midway atari made the gamke schematics i have original manual with machine marked midway "

Anyone take a guess at what the reserve is? I'd pick it up for the monitor, harness, etc., but my guess is that he has the reserve set at $600...

Reading this hurts my head:

this is an original mortal combat gaming machine has ware and tear from play but is in decent shape and works great original manual is with it for trouble shooting schematics and general info. coin bins still in it it is rare to find one with the manual but this one is like new i dont think it was looked in i found it in the bottom of machine would be a good piece for the collector or for the gamer enjoy a piece of history. BUYER RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL MEANS OF PICKUP OR SHIPPING OF ITEM SHIPPING COSTS WOULD HAVE TO BE FOUND BY BUYER. I WOULD BE WILLING TO ASSIST IN SHIPPING LIKE CRATING OR HAULIONG TO A SHIPPING DESTINATION FOR SMALL FEE . thanks and enjoy bidding

I saw this yesterday when doing some scouting around on eBay for my first project and was struck by this entry as well. Personally, I love the old Atari Gauntlet cabs but knew this wasn't an original MK. Still, aren't there a couple marquee places that will do custom work? I could definitely see MK art in the Gauntlet styled Grill Marquee and redoing the CPO with the 2nd player stick and buttons pushed a little more to the right to make it a little more even. Is the marquee/grill removable as well, because painting the MK logo over the speaker grill might make that look very cool.

As for guessing the reserve... I'd say $600 is a bit lofty, even for someone that isn't in the know. $400 seems a bit more likely.
