Look for plastic part from Super Sprint steering wheel

I'm working on a super sprint that some kid got a little rough with. The kid smashed the wheel and broke the black plastic ring piece that holds the wheel on. Here's a pic of the broken piece.

Thanks

It's been a few years since I got mine, I think I purchased from eBay.

Here are a few reference points for you to look, called Thompson Bearings:

They look like this:

Quick google search found some listed here: http://www.directindustry.com/prod/west-coast-lockwasher/product-26075-1611083.html

There are dimensions that you'll need to verify. Don't trust my guess, but I want to say the larger one is 1 1/4" I.D. and the other is maybe 1/2" I.D.

Hope this helps, let us know who/where/how much you found and what works :)

the part you need is the steering housing.
Part # 000605-01

its very hard to find but they do pop up from time to time. I'm sold out of NOS and used pieces.

Thanks guys I guess it must be the steering housing that I need. It's the part that actually holds the wheel into the control panel.

I had to go through about 10 to get 3 decent ones for my Super Sprint. Some were beyond repair, almost all were cracked.

Would be a good item to repro.

(PS I don't have any left)

I've had two of them crack during the past 18 months and my last good spare had a crack starting on it so i had a friend machine a replacement out of aluminum.

I'm testing it on location this week and everything seems to be perfect so far. I'm not sure what they will cost but can get a quote if anyone is interested.

I have one with some damage but if you're handy it might be salvageable with Epoxy or JBWeld. I can send pics and will happily mail it you pick up the shipping.

That looks awesome - is the weight the same? I'd definitely be interested.

The original piece weighs 120 grams and the aluminum replacement is 800 grams. I don't think the added weight really matters, the piece is stationary on the control panel.

I'm traveling abroad so it'll be a few weeks until i can get a quote. I'm guessing they will cost at least $50.

If it doesn't add too much to the cost, it would be great to see the mounting holes not go all the way through, and have them black anodized.

If you can get them done for $50 each, I would probably by 3 as is though. Between this and the metal shaft I upgraded to, my wheels would feel pretty nice!

My replacement is working perfect. I'm getting two more made after the new year, my friend is making them for me at the shop for free. If i order 20 parts they will be over $100 each. i told him that's probably too expensive for the market and i wouldn't be interested in doing a large order.
