Hello all,

Made a 640 mile round trip yesterday to pick this up, Exidy Star Fire! I've been looking for this game since the late 90's. Up to this point, I've only been able to locate a manual and a marquee. A longtime friend from our RGVAC days hooked me up with it. I did not know he had one and had given up on finding one years ago but in a conversation last summer with another KLOV'r I was told that there was one available...kind of a long story but the good ones usually are. If my RGVAC buddy and the others that helped me with this yesterday say it's ok to name them I will later.

Anyway, it's in great shape. Was working a few months ago then put into storage. It's too cold to plug it in when I get it off the truck until I get it into the game room. This is too cool. I had my pick of the best parts like the seat part and several other parts.

At the moment, it's still in my truck. It snowed here last night and I don't have any help to unload it...story of my life... so I'm trying to figure a way to get it off of the truck today and at least in the garage.

Can't wait to get this baby in the game room and check it out.

Pics or it didn't happen, so here you go!

Here are a couple pics of it working before storage. I hope it's still working like this when I plug it in... I'm sure it will!

Enjoy!

Wow, cool looking game but they really copied Star Wars with that one! The Tie fighters and even the name is written the same way.

Yep, sure does, doesn't it! Makes it pretty cool in my book. There's even a ship in the game that looks like a Galactica Viper. They got all bases covered with this one.

I think this game came out in '78 or '79...

Man that's a long drive you had to endure! Congrats on the great find. I can't even imagine what the odds were of you finding this game after searching for so long.....

I always liked this game, even in emulation (which totally mangles it). They used to have one come around each year at our county fair when I was a kid, sometimes in 2-3 inches of standing water on a pallet depending on the weather. This and Space War were my favorites - Star Fire for the resemblance to Star Wars and Space War for the configurable games...Good find - congrats!

I love your style and taste Tom...Great score!!! Did you go North or South??? I am guessing south.

True story - A friend and I found one of those back around 2000, in the back of a junk store I believe. It was a cave of an unfinished room, along with a Tornado Baseball cocktail that you could literally pull parts right from the wood. The baseball was that rotten. There were also 2 nice Tempest cabinets. I still have one of them.

My buddy got the Starfire. I don't recall it having any art on the side and some of the rear was torn off. It didn't work 100%, garbage on screen. It would have fixed up nice, but I had no idea of the rarity or value. He sold it to some guy that had it shipped, not sure what happened to it after that. I mostly remember that big ole controller.

I'm soooooo jealous...
Great score! Good luck with it. I've also been looking for one for years, but havn't seen one in the North East.

I remember when that game came out. That had to have been one of the first environmental cabs I can ever remember playing. For some reason I thought it came out before 1980 but that is what the KLOV entry says.

Glad you made It home safe Tom It was nice seeing you and your son!!! I think you forgot the backdoor for It. There was a backdoor laying next to another cabinet.

Thanks Jeff, nice to see you too. My son was in awe.

I did get the door, the one sitting near that game outside was not for Star Fire. Trev found it for me.

That was me, had it shipped to Indiana. Had it in storage for a while, but could not figure out the wiring to repair it. Ended up selling it to a guy on the East Coast who had 2 more of the games and was working on putting together a single working game out of them. Lost track after that. Glad to see one finally working out there, that's damned rare :)

nice score there tom! this game will complement the rest of your collection quite nicely :)

any luck sellin the kozmik kroozer?

Thanks Chris. I hope Star Fire is still working after the trip home, it was a long one.

KK - no, still have it. I'm keeping it for now, tired of tire kickers.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
