lol so I posted a wtb arcades on cl for fun

I did the same thing when I started out.. Complete PIA. The postings would get flagged whether I followed the posting rules or not. Often within an hour. At least in NJ.. there are a couple jerkoffs who think they own craigslist and spam it 10-15 times a day with their video games wanted ads. The nieve people call them up and they hit them with a low ball offer.. like 150 to 200 max for a working game like galaga. I tried keeping up for a few weeks but my guess is these are unemployed people who have all day and are using it to make cash. I dont post to craigslist anymore. At this point I am only going to buy from/trade with other collectors unless some amazing deal pops up. I still monitor it every 5 mins and have it sent to my email.

I've thought about posting a wanted on Craigslist and the such, I just don't have the time to keep up with peoples' responses. I always monitor Craigslist though, I've gotten a cheap, working Gun Smoke in a Ms. Pac cabinet (I think, artwork was painted over) that is in the process of being converted to a 60-in-1, and I some other games that I didn't really need. I even passed up on a working Silver Strike Bowling for $250. I could take that to auction and double that! Time is a virtue I seem to lack lately.

That's pretty bad....I used to advertise that way once in a while and that never happened. You sure you weren't violating some rule? It's posted in the "wanted" section right?

I was trying to get rid of a cat once and I put it in the free section and it kept getting flagged. Took me a while to figure out that they have a pets section so that's why people kept flagging it. Gotta have the right category!

Ive got some stuff by posting want ads on craigslist. I got a free semi working nice condition Jet Spin em pinball and a time killers in dynamo cab not working for 40$. I got a email from this ame operator and just wanted to much for junk poker cabs. Its really a hit or miss

WHat part of MD you from?

Just make sure it's in the Wanted area, and it shouldn't get flagged.

Unless someone else in the area is wanting machines as well... they'll flag it just to keep your's off the site.

I'm willing to bet it was flagged on account of 1st Degree Douchebaggery. ^^

I'm willing to bet it was flagged on account of 1st Degree @#!*% . ^^

Well it takes multiple flags to remove it though. So unless they are really working at it, that's unlikely.

I've flagged wanted posts before on my local CL. But not because I don't think they should be there, but rather I'm tired of seeing the same post every 2 days.

One thing I've learned about this hobby is that if you're in it to make a bunch of money and piss people off, your avenues of choice begin to narrow quite a bit. I've found everything I need just by networking.

I've gotten some of my best scores from wanted ads on CL but that was a few years ago. Probably mentioned this but some douchebag was accusing me of flagging his stupid wanted ads that he would post over and over in every location. I'd only post mine local and he started emailing me threats for posting in my damn location. He's a member here and he can go F#@$ himself, I hope the fleas of 1000 camels infest his pubic region.

Examples of nice deals I got was a $100 Stargate, $100 Lunar Lander, $100 Asteroids with 800 plays on the meter, $100 Bag Man in really nice shape, $500 Eight Ball Deluxe Limited Edition, $500 Black Knight Limited Edition, $50 Red Tent, $150 Spy Hunter, the list goes on... Even though I fixed most of these and either sold them or put them in my house I still have way too many projects to post wanted ads not to mention there are just too many a-holes on CL pissing on each other for stupid games. Some people in this hobby need to grow up already. It actually soured me on the hobby a bit but again I got enough projects to keep me busy for a few years so not really giving a damn about CL anymore. As far as the prices, these people were all very nice and basically dictated the price and in all instances the games were in very good shape but usually had some technically issue but definitely worth the asking price. Did I take advantage of them for not offering more than they asked? I don't think so. I didn't flip very many of these games I acquired even though I could have but then I'd have to find them again and quite a bit of work went into driving to get them, fixing them, cleaning them up etc...

So if you post wanted ads more power to you.

My ads always get flagged. I've checked, I'm well within the rules! And I've actualy scored my Tempest from a hit on my CL ad so it's so frustrating because it CAN be effective...

Yeah, it can be very effective. Surprisingly you can find some fantastic local deals on eBay as well. I recall scoring a Stargate, Lethal enforcers, and a Super cobra for a $100 winning bid and all were fairly easy fixes. Also got a nice Tempest for $230 and the guy had a DK that he sold me for $40 when I came to grab the Tempest. :D

I've got a buddy upstate that sells games as a business. He posts a lot of ads on CL- I'll admit it's a little bothersome to wade through it looking for other deals, but he says he gets blasted by locals all the time about it.

He said that one guy threatened to KILL HIM!

That's taking it to the next level-

I have been flagged on craigslist too for my video game wanted ads. Was told on the flagging forum that I cant put it in the wanted section. Go figure. It has to be in the service section. Yeah, right where no one will respond to it. Havent gotten any replies since I posted there. Craigslist blows? When you allow anyone, to flag anyone, for any reason, thats just not right. There are too many people on the internet who like to play at being king of all. They have no control over their real lifes so they use the internet to exercise some control. Thats my experience with craigslist. I will stick to the local swap papers. They dont mind me using there Wanted section.
