Local Craigs List Arse that won't go away.. Does every city have one?

Does every city have one? One of these guys that just never goes away..

I'm in Cincinnati area and if you live here then I don't have to mention who the arse is. It's the same post over and over and its the same machines that he's been sitting on for months and months. I understand that he's trying to be retail and make money but my gosh the prices are insane on most of the items. I suppose if he sells just one machine to some poor sucker then he's made his due. A buddy of mine tried to do some business with him and said it was impossible. The guy thinks his machines are made of gold.

I was just wondering if any other cities are suffering the same fate that we have here in Cincinnati.

We've got one on Minneapolis, but it's the opposite. Douchebag posts at least 2-3 times per day in the 'WANTED' sections for a pin.

My buddy's actually seen/met him. He (my buddy) was picking up a pin he bought on eBay and the guy stopped by while he was loading it up. Little weasel.

I flag his posts each and every time I see them. Yes, dude, WE GET that you would like people's old, broken pinball machines. And yes, dude, WE GET that you have $100 to spend.

/end rant.

I know the Cinci arse you're referring to (he's actually on these forums.) You'd think after a year or more of posting the same machines at the same insane prices he might be willing to negotiate. But nope, he just deletes his ad, and re-posts it every two or three days. I know there have been members on here who have sold him games, only to have him list them for double or triple the price in a few days-without doing ANY work on them.

It wouldn't be so bad if the machines were in decent shape, but they're a far cry from it.

We have one here, but he actually owns a business where he repairs and sells machines. His name is Rick and he runs a shop out of Hayward.

I wouldn't call him an arse, but he does post the same listing over and over and over (and over) at the same inflated prices. I'm guessing he has other means of making profit because it seems he never sells his machines.

But CL is free advertising and A LOT of people use it so businesses take advantage of it. You know when it's their listing when you see it, just ignore it or find a keyword that you can have omitted in your search.

Craigslist would change dramatically for the better if they just instituted a 25c/post fee.

we had one of those guys here in portland until he got called out a few weeks ago. he would snipe every good deal on craigslist only to list it the next day for double what the previous seller was asking for it. he had no idea how to fix games and all his prices were firm. people eventually got sick of his tactics and started posting ads saying "DO NOT BUY FROM XXXXX; HE IS A SCAMMER," etc. luckily the guy couldnt take the heat and hasnt posted an ad since.

Oh you mean DUSTIN? ahahahaha. I spit in that guy's general direction. Ptoooooie! lol

There was actually another local guy in the Corvallis, OR CL. For exactly one year- yes, that's right- an ENTIRE freakin' year... 12 months, this one dipshit top-posted once a week the same Seawolf, Seawolf II, and Pole Position games. The machines all worked, but the photos he took of them sitting in a filthy barn only added to the epic fail of his ads. He was asking a few hundred more than what they would sell for, which I normally don't give two shits about, but he continued on a weekly basis to list the same ad to the top, without even so much as dropping the price of the games by even one dollar.

I think he finally gave up trying, as I haven't even seen them in atleast a month. I highly doubt after a year of trying that he finally managed to sell all three games at once. He probably pitched them in the trash or something.

Yep. We have one here in Phoenix called "Arcade Boneyard" or something... And he isn't even anywhere near Phoenix.

I'm half joking. I have seen kittybeater's ads show up on our CL...

We have some guys out here called "Phoenix Arcade Repair" that are definitely clueless.

i don't post anything on craigslist, but think about the general publics perception of all of this..."hey, this one guy has a mortal kombat for sale for 1200 and this other guy has one for sale for 400" guess which guy he's going to call
so let these high price guys continue to post and those of us who want to sell our stuff at a reasonable price will continue to make the sales...
just my thoughts on the matter

I have absolutely no problem with private individuals asking what they want... I just hate the retail douches posting in there. It's not a retail site.

Craigslist was started in San Francisco to be a "local stuff for sale," "average Joe" type website. Like an internet yard sale. Not an internet mall.

There was some guy who kept listing over priced games in the New York area. I really didn't care, except one day he started putting up listings in all caps saying things like "HAHA YOU CAN STOP REPORTING ME. I ALREADY SOLD ALL THOSE GAMES ANYWAY." Don't know what that was about, but it was weird.

Hey, I pretty much carpet-bombed CL with ads for my Silkworm game for a while there. Didn't really work though. I would have still done it at 25 cents a post though and lost even more on the stupid game.

We have someone that repeatedly reposts the same Eggventure and 2 other games... and they've been doing that for well over a year.

RE the Cincinnati guy, I've seen all eleventy bajillion of his posts. I've met him - he's a nice enough guy. He actually has a couple of games I'd love to buy, but they'd have to be discounted about 50%.

Right here in the bay area we have a place called Funhouse in Hayward California and the guy who own's the place is Rick,I met him a few times and he's very cocky and can be a smart ass until you get to know him, he puts up ads every single week with the same games that he has had for years that he cant sell?Stuff like Defender for 1K and other games for crazy prices?I don't mind what he does because he's got to pay the bills but putting ads 2 times a week with the same games and prices gets annoying. Seriously we get the clue Rick with your ads! I think I memorized all your prices and games for the last 6 years!

I can't say this guy has been sitting on CL Houston area really because he doesn't know how to setup stuff like that on the internet. I mean the first ad of his was done by a friend or relative. But he wants like $1100 for a "one" non-working upright or sitdown version of Hydro Thunder cause he insists that he paid for like $1700 for each unit...............seriously. Machines are older than 10 years, they aren't working and parts and repairs for these can be hard to come by since Midway declared bankruptcy in 2009......... I insisted on telling him that but he still wanted high dollar on anything non-working and that would only cost him $250 to get it repaired by some guy he knew. Don't even get me started on any working units........ I don't care if you own a business or that you personally collect these out your free time, but what makes you think these items are worth as much as they are non-working......
