I visited my local CEC last Saturday and they have updated their games a bit. Unfortunately for me the three games I play the most are all gone, Tsunami Motion cab, Afterburner Climax cockpit, and Pirates of the Carribean pinball...

It wasn't all bad though, they have added a Seawolf redemption. I love this game and hope to one day add one to my home arcade. They also added one of these:

An Operation skill redemption game? That's not only great, that borders on inspired.

How was it?

the Tacoma CEC dumped TSPP and the motion cab in the last year but has had the Seawolf redemption for quite some time. they didn't bring in a new pin which made me very disappointed.

after playing blinddog's original Seawolf last night i have to say i do like the original better.

Yeah, our CEC just got this game in as well. My wife made a bee-line for it. Pretty cool game actually. When we got there and told us they had new games I got excited and was gonna go dumpster-diving for their Simpsons Pinball Party, but alas, it was still in-use.

that's pretty interesting. what i'd like to know, is how are the forceps maneuvered? is it on something like a telescoping rod? i think a claw style movement would make it sway too much and be tough to get into the hole.

How the heck does Operation reset? If it's anything like the home game, you have to reinsert all the pieces.

You aren't pulling pieces, you are dropping the tweezers to the bottom of each hole. If the tweezers make contact with the bottom of the hole and not the sides you gain points/tickets.

funny you should say this.
i heard CEC destroys their games when
they retire them and your comments
make me think that's possibly true.

Yeah I have read a few instances of people seeing games in the dumpster at CEC. Don't know if I read it on here or rec.games.pinball, but someone pulled out a Stern pin(Pirates maybe?) from a dumpster there but the playfield was missing. The discussion was then that CEC goes so far at times to have pictures sent of the destroyed games. If someone on here works for the big rat, please chime in...

Ok just got back taking the kids to our local CEC here in Newark California and I had a good converastion with one of the techs/Manager that's been working there for 5 years and asked what does CEC do with their games and to my surprise he told me they get a special bin and throw away all their games? I remember they had an attack from mars pin and was scared to ask what happened to that he said straight to the garbage bin? Wow? I couldn't believe what I was hearing? He told me a local guy offered $500 for it and he refused because of liability reasons, basically CEC doesn't want to be responsible if they sell you a game and later it burns your house down.He also told me they had a space invaders game that was thrown away also? I drove home with the kids and still couldn't believe that attack from mars pin was thrown in the garbage, he told me that he just replaced the monitor in it also? Anyways cool guy his name was Doug and he also worked for Sega year's ago in Fremont, so he has alot of knowledge about sega boards and the company. Here's some quick pictures I took of the place and my Daughter playing.

i bought a CEC coloring book at an auction, theres a post about it some where on here. i sold it to another member here though.I heard the same thing, guess some make it out.

Yeah everything on the walls gets thrown in the garbage also I guess that makes sense why old 80s CEC stuff is hard to find even on Ebay. I wanted one of those CEC arcade signs and put it in my Game room.
