I need some adhesive backed vinyl to cover a CP before I put on the CPO. Is there a local store (home depot, loews, etc) that I don't know of that stocks this? I know those stores have a lot of vinyl flooring but that isn't quite the same. Ideas of where to go or do I have to do this online?

bah, looks like I'll have to remake the entire piece of sheet metal. After some inspection its not really savable without a thick piece of vinyl. Whoever converted this CP really did the bare minimum and now its going to take some elbow grease.

Just about any sign shop should have adhesive backed vinyl, in a variety of thicknesses and colors.

I'm not sure why you would want to put it under a CPO though.

The old one had a number of minor imperfections that could have easily been solved with some vinyl. That is before I took more apart and inspected.... turns out its a bigger mess than I thought.

Can't you just apply the CPO and then install a piece of plexi over the CPO? Or do you not like the Plexi look?

do some searching on fixing metal panels. bondo, epoxy and some steel power outlet tabs can rescue just about everything.

"steel power outlet tabs"? I tried googling it, but came up with nothing.

Anyone have any good links to see repair on control panels?

I should have been more specific..repairing dents in control panels. I have a missile command cp that has some pretty nasty dents in the bottom half.

if it's dented just pound them out.. get it straight again and fix with bondo.. not sure how adhesive vinyl would make dents go away :)

yep what he said. Then after sanding smooth, prime and paint black, then apply cpo. No need for vinyl.

I thought I posted again but I guess not. As I said before originally I thought I could vinyl over it quickly as that is what was done before I touched it. After I removed the vinyl and took a look I found out it was a huge mess with gaping holes. Whoever redid this thing just drilled new holes were there were sets of old and it was so poorly done you couldn't tell how many holes there were and where they started or ended. I'll probably just make a new CP as I have the equipment.
