Little old lady

Amazing what people will spend to store items; short term is understandable, but they've been paying storage for 15 YEARS!

Good grief, what a waste of money!

what auction is coming up in the Philly area? It's been years since I've been to one. Last one was at Cherry Hills.

As much as I love to see games saved, I would never agree to haul those games to an auction for those people. You suddenly are responsible for them and they will blame every problem and missing part on the game on you. You would have been a fool to do that. Making an offer and walking away is the only way to handle that deal.

Anyway the only reason why I would take it to the auction for her is because I work with Lou Vitali who runs the auction and I own the facility its in. So it's in my best interest to have as many machines at the auction. When she originaly called me it was because she saw the auction advetised on Cl.

Charge her $50 per game to transport. Done and done.

Then win those bastards for dirt cheap! ;)

Even worse, when they sell for $25 a pop at the auction, he'll be blamed for that, accused of damaging them in transport, lying, etc.

I'd run away as fast as possible!

Let them pay $250 a month to store them some more. In 2 months, you can name your price, unless they find craigslist.

Curse them for wasting Uncle Lou's time.

Totally bummed out. I went to look at the games today.
The guy and the lady swear they all work and it's just a fuse or something simple.
The mold, mildew, wood rot, rust , water stains, bugs, rat nests w/shit and 3/4 inch of dust grime were normal.

Ohh and the guys played every game when they moved them into storage and they all worked perfect.
Asteroids- Cabinet was descent but it was missing the pcb( Wonder how far along the guys got playing this one with no cpu)

Sinistar - Cabinet was ok but game completely DOA

Ms pacman 1- Lights up scrambled numbers and freaky stuff going on. Guy says "I got the game in test mode"

Ms Pacman 2- Bottom all water damage with a thick layer of mold on the back. " He don't understand because this game worked great he remembers playing it"

Centipede - DOA botom rotted out cabinet separating from sides Rats nest inside

Zoo Keeper - Doa Cabinet rotted on bottom

Popeye - The only game that made noise, attract music and you could see the game playing but monitor was shot.

Space Invaders- Clearly the best cabinet of the bunch- a glow on the neck and that was it. I could see the holders for the cpu but there was nothing in it. I couldnt get in the back door because they had a hasp and a master lock with no key. But it looks like the cpu could be missing.

I brought 2 grand with me not knowing what to expect. I genuinely didn't want to even offer him $500 but I did , he accused me of trying to pick his pocket and these games were easily fixable bla bla bla, . I said you do know that were in a recession and a Good Working clean Ms Pacman can be picked up any where for $400. He said have a nice day.

As I was walking away he said bottom line number was $1000 and take them all.
I though long and hard and I couldn't bring my self to do it. Just to much damage.
He was not willing to sell one or two.

If any one wants his number pm me. I want the space Invaders cabinet only.

Sad story.... You said the zoo keeper was rotted on the bottom. Were you able to tell if the rot was specific to the bottom mount or were the front and sides compromised as well?

bizarre to see a Sini and a ZK.... especially a dedicated ZK. If you could pry that ZK away from them at least for parts, it might be worth it. Then again, it's probably best to let karma do its good deeds.

Thanks for sharing the photos though.

I was thinking the same thing on the Zookeeper. The bottom piece is just 4 pieces of wood bolted together. I removed this on my cab (these bottom pieces were water damaged) but the wood above it never saw water. As long as no water got to the elevated 'floor' of the cab that one might be salvageable.

When people sit on games like this for a long time, their thought process gets weird. People who have had them since the 80s remember that they were worth thousands new. They may have heard of high prices some games have commanded over the years, i.e. 10 years ago. Then they end up sitting on the games forever. Every price offered them is an insult. They don't take care of the games, so they get waterlogged, lived in by animals and broken.

It's a bummer to see, but it happens all the time. I wonder how much they have spent storing these things though..

Hopefully a few of those machines will make it out alive.

Sounds like a mission for... I say we send in...
