Lacks the blue in the original grey, but it's better than rusty
I like the rust, give it a good lick for luck! Isn't this kinda bad for grounding in all seriousness? That cage around the flyback is supposed to be grounded, with the paint it's just an insulating box which seems like a bad idea for potentially arcing electricity? I know a lot of people just take the cage off and throw it away (not going to lie I did that when I was noob) but in case where the flyback arcs you'd really want a grounded cage around it.I like using this gray and I also like using rustoleums matte nickel paint.
The cage doesn't really do anything for you. It was added to keep fools from sticking their hands where they aren't supposed to. If your sanyo is arcing you have other issues. If you really want it grounded with the cage, you can scrape off the paint a little bit on the cage and the screws that connect the cage will ground it.Isn't this kinda bad for grounding in all seriousness? 1. WHO IS HIM? (see bold in your quote)
2. You said someone was suspended, not reported. Try to keep up with your lies.

Anyways I like the results of how people painted their nintendo monitor frame, looks nice. Not sure the benefit of it, but if it makes you happy then by all means go crazy with the rustoleum.
Yeah in my one of my own sanyos I did that when I needed to change the flyback. If I'd known better I could've figured out a way to stick the cage back on but my skill level wasn't there yet. I agree the cage overall probably isn't necessary. I think if it's off though it's better than an insulating cage around it. I'm not sure what'd happen if that thing arcs into an insulating box, would it light on fire potentially? The cage doesn't really do anything for you. I add the cage if the flyback is original. If you have to replace the flyback you cannot keep the cage on because it will not phyisically fit correctly with the new focus block unless you mount it weird.
You will pop fuses or R471 before you really start having insane issues. You are super overthinking this topic. The cage was to keep idiots out of the flyback area. A bit of insurance. The same thing would happen if a Sanyo starts arcing as literally any other monitor with an arcing flyback, it would arc to the metal piece on the side or nearby components. Relative to the flyback, that HV cage is really far away, the arc would have to travel VERY far for it relative to the other stuff on the board near by.I'm not sure what'd happen if that thing arcs into an insulating box, would it light on fire potentially?
