When I gutted my 60-1 project cab, I grabbed out all the fuses at the same time, and now I dont remember which one belongs in the main AC line. The highest rating I have is a 7amp 250v, among many other different ones as well. Which rating would be safe to use?

120 Volt line input to the cab (power supply + monitor + lighting) should be 2 Amp max for most machines. A few select machine need 3 Amp (Qbert, Playchoice 10 dual monitor, Omega Race, etc...) But most machines only pull 150 watts or so which is < 2 amps by far.

20 Amp? Most home circuits are only 15A. A single arcade game is not going to draw 20 Amps of 120 volts!

I would suspect your 5V DC line would draw 3-5 amps to the multi board--there is another post in this forum asking what the current draw is on the +5 and +12 lines of a 60-in-1. No answers yet though to know for sure.

7amp in many games. The 20 amp fuses are usually for the ac that goes into the bridge rectifier and filter cap from the transformer.

What country are you in? While a lot of POWER SUPPLIES are rated at 15 or 20 amps, the main line fuse in almost all cabs is just a 2-amp or 3-amp fuse.

If there are "many" cabs that need 7-amp fuses, perhaps you would be kind enough to link the manuals of said games....

Looking at my star wars tonight it has a 7 amp at f1.

Ok, then I'll capitulate and say that Atari games with Power bricks had a 7-amp, so I guess there are "many" that had a 7-amp. I still don't know of any that had a 20-amp.

That being said, for his project (60-in-1), a 3-amp fuse is just fine. I know because I've built many and used a 2-1/2-amp fuse in them....

I never said 20 amp for in line just that there is a 20 amp fuse in many games.

That's what I was thinking of. However, I did make an error. After reading through this, I realized it was for inline. And the original poster did state it was for jamma.

I was thinking on the chassis for certain games (what is used before the bridge in Centipede and ROTJ, the 2 games I'm working on currently), not the inline.

Good thing we clarify the questions we ask! :D
