I have a Bally Motordome that I had a few bulbs out on, so I deceided to replace all of the 555's under the playing field with LEDs. Most of them worked fine, but I have a few that instead of flashing while in attract mode (and in the game) stay solid and not as bright. I have tried the bulbs in other sockets and they work fine, so wondering what I have done that they are not working correctly.

Ideas?

Thanks!

Diode?

OK, I will try that. Is it possible that it could be the diode that is on it that went bad? Are they all the same on each of the lamps?

If I understand your issue correctly, it is the LED's themselves causing the problem. They take less current/energy to light than a conventional bulb. Put in a regular bulb, not an LED and I suspect your staying on problem will go away. For CPU controlled playfield lights sometimes LED's just won't work. LED's work well in General Illumination, but poorly in flashers.

No, the LEDs are working in most places, but I have a few that don't flash with them, but are just dim and solid, and if I put in a regular 555 bulb, I get nothing.

Trying to find out what is wrong. Couple places worked fine before I messed with it, so wondering what I did, and how to fix.

I too would start by checking the sockets on those bulbs. Check the wires underneth.

Push them a little with your finger and see of they freely move, if so, then its probably a contact issue there. You can then either replace the socket, or in some cases solder things together.
I say things because without a pic of the actual socket, I can't tell you where to solder. You will have to rough up the metal on the socket in order to get the solder to stick and use flux, since the socket will have mild corrsion on it.

You can also very carefully, move the socket wires around and see if the LED gets brighter.
