Lighted Speaker Panel Mod for Creature from the Black Lagoon (CFTBL)

Nice topper Dave!

I don't have a creature pin but decided to get one of these for the game room decor :)

Is that a color DMD or a green filter over the DMD?

Neither. It's a green DMD from XPin. I have a blue one in my Tron. :)

Also, Tron doesn't really fit in with your horror theme.

I know... and now I've got a Scared Stiff coming, which brings the tally to 4 horror pins and Tron. Nevertheless, Tron stays! I bought it new in box, and have been tricking it out since day 1. It's immaculate.

I've since toned the green way down behind the translite. I think it looks much better now:

Looks great man. You should pop off that translight and take a pic of the LED map. I'd love to see how you achieved such a perfect balance. I ran out of all wedge based LEDs a year ago and just haven't gotten around to buying a new batch. I used up what I had left on my Creech, but I know I can make it look better with the proper color balance.

I also had to modify the plastic mount for one of my upgraded speakers. The power plug and jumper header of the lighted panel fell right within the outline of the ABS speaker mount:

No way to reinstall it as it was, so I had to route the whole corner off to allow clearance for the plugs and wiring.

Great job, but why would the put the headers so close to the speakers when do many pinheads upgrade their speakers?

You tell me. Funny thing is, when I asked about and showed the problem, I got little to no response from anyone, other than one guy ("had the same problem, easy fix") and the mod creator ("what upgraded speakers do you have?"). When I posted the answer to the creator and showed the fix, I got zero response. Not in the thread, not via PM, nothing. Pinside is just a weird fucking place. If you wanna argue about mods, powder coat or LEDs, you'll have a thousand responses in an hour, you post something cool or fun or technical or try to discuss something relevant to the installation of a product those same thousand posters purchased, you get crickets.

That is what this place is for Phet. Or at least it is the best place for those type of discussions.

Yeah, I get the same thing there too. FWIW, I appreciated you sharing the info.

No problem. I always hope I'm at least helping someone when I post stuff like that, but when you get very little feedback, you have no idea if anyone even notices. Then 2 weeks later, you'll have someone start a thread like: "Bought Lighted Speaker panel for my Creech, won't work with my upgraded speakers? WTF? What do I do?" Then you'll have a hundred people chiming in bashing the seller, or saying "subscribed, curious to see if there is a fix", etc. Just strange.

Thank you, sir. I'll snap some pics of that 'sum bitch for you later this week... probably tomorrow.

Sorry, for the delay, dude. I popped the translite out to take some pics today, but then didn't even bother to take pics, because I apparently went WAY easier than I remember. Here's what I did:

orange behind the fire
warm white behind the couple in the safari clothes
Cool white for EVERYTHING else

I think I had originally put in a couple of blues and greens but took them out because they washed out some of the other colors.
