Found this project on FB listed for $900. I sent them a few KLOV sales thread showing these can go for $700-$800 in working order and offered $400. A week later asked if I wanted to come pick it up, so I did. This is going to be more mechanical work than my first 4 projects. In retrospect, I should have offered them less. Oh well, guess I'll wear the noob badge a little longer.
IP is in reasonably good shape. Missing the steering wheel insert, and there is a small crack around the bolt to the right of the steering wheel. I'll try to reinforce the crack with some epoxy behind it to prevent it growing.
Inside was pretty cruddy. Smells like it was inhabited for a while. Probably end up laying down a coat of shellac based primer after I clean it thoroughly.
Well Fuck! Damn thing snapped my screw extractor. That was a Matco tool, not some Harbor Freight crap. Insult to injury was having to drill out a screw with a shard of hardened steel in the center of it. What a bitch.
Fuck you screw, I win! Needs some Evaporust magic. And a good polish.
(I always thought the floormat was supposed to be black!)
A little carpentry to do on the bottom. Probably just cut the nose off and replace with new wood. The steel bracket will cover most of the seam and putty what is visible.
Steering gears were cracked as I was told to expect. Someone also threw in a random spring in for good measure.
Picked up gears and springs from
@Mylstar.
Already bought the EPROMs for the RAM test, but it will probably be a while before I get to this. I need to practice my soldering skills before touching this anyway. How much of a bitch is it working on a stacked board like this? Can you buy extension cables if you need to probe around on the bottom board?
Got a vacation next week and a bunch or work travel, so this could take a while but looking forward to it.
