I'm not sure how best to describe this but I'll try.

My Taxi has some of the light covers on the playfield starting to rise above the surface. These are where the bulb underneath is mounted and shines through.

What causes this? How can I prevent it? And most important, is there a way of fixing this?? Thanks guys!

The hair dryer and socket deal allways works for me. Try this http://www.pinrepair.com/restore/index3.htm#sunk

So that states that you want the whole insert to come out then reseat it.When all that you want to do is just push it back level is all. So you take a hair dryer and put it up on the insert and put it on high heat and then just push the insert down to PF level. Dont think we need to take the whole damn insert out do we? Get back on this. Jeff

Were you the one asking the question? I was responding to the op and trying to help. You're not going to get much help around here with your bizzare posts.

You want to remove the insert completely and reapply glue. The reason it raises or sinks is because the old adhesive has lost its hold. Warming the insert will allow you to remove it and put on fresh glue. If you simply level the insert and leave it alone, it won't be long before it shifts out of place again.

I have the same problem as the op on 3 inserts so I was wanting to understand this thoroughly is all (bizzare post?), or should I put up another thread asking the same question? I mean tell me "Gordonfan" you are the Moderator right? I mean you seem to be acting like one any ways, if your not a Moderator then BTFO!

Thanks for the replay Jordanfan & Jar! I'm glad to hear there's a solution for this. I was a little worried. It seems easy enough. That document recommends Superglue but I'm wondering if anyone has experience with something else? I hate using that stuff.

You dont have to remove the inserts to get'em level. If it's home use only then it's not gonna heat-up and no re-glueing necessary. I just did a search here and you just heat the insert from underneath and push the insert down. Thats a bit overkill to remove and re-glue and you mentioned you dont like super glue then dont remove the insert buddy or you will get that super glue all over the place like the PF and you dont want that. Even if you clean it up quick it dont go away easily theres always some sticky residue left behind. My advise is dont mess with the insert just live with it, if it not that bad. Get back to me? Thanks

Happy to help. The super glue is not as bad as it seems. You can heat up the insert and reset it but like Jar said it will get out of place again. As for the statement some other person made that you can just heat it and reseat it and it will be fine because it's home use is wrong. The damage to the glue or insert has allready been done. Check it out good as sometimes the inserts can shrink, Trust me do it right while you have it apart.
