Ok I feel like an idiot having to ask this question, but I wanna be absolutly sure so I dont screw anything up. For starters its a Bally's Dolly Parton.

How am I supposed to change the light bulbs under the inserts? There isn't enough room to remove them with them in position. I figured I was supposed to unscrew the bulb bracket, but cant find the right nut driver. Is this the proper way? And if so what size is the head on the screw? I am guessing its ASE and not metric, but I don't have alot of ASE to just keep trying till I find the right one. The only other method I came up with is to bend the bracket till there is room, but that just seems stupid, and a fast way to damage the machine.

Ok so if I am going to bend, once I bend to get them out, should I leave them in that position or should I bend them back? In other words if I leave them bent out for changing the bulbs will I loose brightness in the inserts?

Bend them back, pull the bulb, put in the new bulb, bend it back.

Make sure when you do this while power is on, that you don't bend it down against something like the voltage line for a coil. Pumping 50vdc down a 5vdc line is a nice way to blow the logic on your board...

What size nut driver? I can help.

Do you have one of those screw drivers with the opening on the end to insert different little shaped drivers? If so, congratulations you have the right size nut driver. I've worn out 2 nut drivers and am working on my third. :D

I wish someone would have told me this when I did my first pin. I could have saved a whole lot of time!

1/4" nutdriver.

If bending the sockets, bend s-l-o-w-l-y so you don't fatigue the metal and have the socket snap off the next time you relamp.

Ok so I tried the 1/4, and here is the issue. It works on all the nuts, BUT the ones holding in the lamps. After some careful inspection, I found that its due to the groud wire that runs next to the screws. Its running up against the wire so I can't get the nut driver on properly? Any solution to this? I will eventually have to take these things out when I do the playfield swap. Any suggestions as to how I do this with out tearing up the ground wire? Also, when I do the swap, and I start reinstalling the lamp brackets, should I convet over to phillips head screws so that this doesn't become a problem in the future? Or do I need to stick with hex head screws?

Push harder? Once you get it going a turn, it is easier. Sometimes you really gotta put some meat behind the driver to get them started. You can also try using some needle nose pliers to get the screw started.

Alot of your sockets if not all probably are soldered down to the ground braid wire. There would be no way of taking them off, without first heating up the solder. Better off to just bend them unless you are replacing sockets.
