Light boxes for Arcade Marquees, Translites and Movie/Arcade Posters

That is going to be quite the job to change the poster for every movie you watch Phet.:p

Yeah I'll just put 3 good ones up for now and change them out when I get sick of them. I happen to have the same 3 I posted in the mock-up, so they'll go up first. Funny, one's from 1980, the other 2 are from 1982. Seems like a great 3 year span for movies. The only other one I'd want would be Disney's Black Hole or The Last Star Fighter. I'd even consider a Weird Science.

Alright, finally decided to take pics of mine...

This one is a "professional" one. I got it from a co-worker at the game store I'm currently losing my job at. the light is nice and even on it

This is what it looks like inside (just happen to have one without the marquee installed)

This one was a custom build, by my father in law. He has all the woodworking tools, so I asked him to build it for me, lights up nice and decent. The light is just a cheapo Wal Mart tube, and nothing to reflect, but it does the job well.

Nice, can the marquee be changed out easily? That's my next project. Illuminating a Mad Planets marquee.

Well, I wanted it to be, but since I'm not the master woodworker, he decided it would work better if it were just installed, and left sealed. I wanted a slot so I could slide it in and out, but he suggested it wouldn't work well, and could weaken the side.

I'm still super happy with it, because I don't have any other extra marquee yet (got this one at the Portland Retro Gaming expo last year, may buy more this year, $5 each is pretty good... shoulda got more to begin with)

I'm sure I can get him to build me another one or two... he said I could try and sell them to my friends, and he would build them for about $40 I think it was (mine was free, just had to buy the light)

Looks really nice. I'll be custom building mine, with removable aluminum channel holding them in place, same as the poster light box.

Thanks... I have to agree, yours are really nice looking as well... maybe it's just my recent obsession with Tron, but I love that poster, and the light box, perfect.
