I was trying to remember why I wasn't showing as a member here until 2007, when I got my first game (Asteroids) in 2005. I think I figured it out:

2006: I actually joined arcadecontrols.com (another great site)

2005: I think I was finding the older usergroups

Life before KLOV: I was happy and very much so not in the Arcade hobby.

For real though, before KLOV I was mostly into console collecting and hung out on Nintendoage. Then I decided that I wanted to try and do a VS super mario bros. From there it spiraled to wanting to do one of every Nintendo machine. Since then I all but stopped console collecting. I realized I found more satisfaction in fixing and making parts for these old machines than gathering dust collectors.

Kudos for quoting Like A Rock!

LOL. I got into KLOV in around 2011 or so.

Otherwise, I was fixing my Xenon pinball machine or Stargate. Rubber ring kits off eBay, or buying stuff from various electronics outfits which existed back then.

For being kinda old now and a full-on mall/skating rink/arcade rat BITD (somehow made it to 55 today!) I'm a latecomer to this hobby.
I was a BYOAC denizen first and then made it over here to the Dark Side also.

Turns out that emulation really is just the gateway drug.

Prior to arcade machines it was all surfboards and cars, and I have since added motorcycles.

What a journey it's all been so far-

Happy Birthday eh.

I picked up my first game, Ikari Warriors in around 2004. First restore, I still have that one. I don't remember where I was getting my knowledge from though. Joined KLOV in 2014

I joined rgvac, rgp, byoac, and klov all around the same time (2002), basically as soon as I had a house and thus a place to put games. Got connected to the local (much longer time) collectors through rgp and rgvac.

I started collecting home console carts from probably back in 1978-79. I got started collecting arcade games in 1983 when I found a food fight arcade game for $60 broken at the san jose fleamarket. I then searched and found rgvac and rgvam and got help from people like rick scheive, steve O , and others. they helped talk me thru fixing my first arcade game. That started the madness.

So offer him some happy political magazines in trade for it 😆
I got this asteroids pinback the other day. it was made in 1980 by the graphic artist david dees. He did the atari asteroids art for the 2600 back in 1979. he went on to doing commercial art (sesame street) , then political art, and then conspiracy stuff until his passing.

he has a few artbooks and has some interesting pieces.
