This is what a German Donkey Kong looks like.

Here's the full road-trip story, plus some nice pictures from a German "arcade dealer"...:

Whatever you think of it, it's probably a lot easier to play standing at the machine compared to the original Nintendo's for us tall Europeans....

I read this was officially licensed but I'm not 100% sure about it...it could just as well be a pretty good copy of the artwork.

I kind of like that version of Donkey Kong. It's funny though because I was just reading about that roadtrip story yesterday.

One thing though... It looks like Dig Dug is on the monitor, not DK.

what tall Europeans are you talking about , I am only 5"10 and felt like a giant most times in Germany lol. nice machine, kinda like a universal DK kit

cool story and a nice pickup!! are all the nintendo cabs out there more like this style rather than the style of cab (dk style) we have over here in the us? that almost looks like a taito cab.

To prevent any misunderstandings, this cab is not mine but my good friend Superully's.

If you look closely at the pics at the "arcade dealer" you see another one of these DK's, but it's missing the side-art.

The machines were German built, so not Taito and not a kit. The brand was ENV.

And yes, of course it's running the wrong game :D

It's definitely licensed as we know now, look at this flyer:

Looks like there at least was contact with Ninendo (Radarscope, my god, would there be a Radarscope cockpit left somewhere in Europe ? ;) )

Great roadtrip story, looks like if you ever need an Asteroids you know where to go. :) Love the generic Shinobi marquee on what looks to be (art wise at least) a Centipede, it just looks odd. And I'm not an exidy guy but that poor Cheyenne looks like it has seen much, much, much better days.

OK, let me rephrase that: Tall Western-European guys ?

I think that the average Japanese guy (Nintendo remember) is shorter than the average European guy. I always asumed that the cabs were smaller for that reason...
