Seeking some advice on matching a chassis to a tube.

I'm guessing the 59 after the A tells me that I have a 23.23" CRT. The problem chassis on this monitor looks almost identical to a Wei-Ya 825H, but I can't find any specs on it. The part number from the PCB is HH-25/29C. Probably an earlier model.

So, when I pulled the chassis and looked it over, I assumed it was for a 25" tube based on the PCB part number marking. I ordered a new chassis from 8liners.com. They sent a Wei-Ya 825HR4 -- should have just got it from Alva for cheaper I'm learning...

Anyways, my monitor's resistance readings are right in spec (H=2.1, V=7.3) for this new chassis.

When I power it up, the screen it way to wide and off the right side of the screen. Turning the H.Size all the way down still doesn't do the trick. Also, the monitor now has a wobble and vertical bounce and you can hear a high pitched whine that's in sync with the bouncing. If I turn the V.Hold so that the screen is constantly rolling, the whine goes away, but obviously is unuseable.

I'm rather new to this CRT rebuild thing so I'm looking for any advice on what I should check next. I've been trying to contact Victor about exchanging the chassis just in case this new one is defective but like anyone else, they are quick to reply when you want to buy, slow to reply when you need anything else.

Thanks,
Jeff

I'm no scholar on the subject, but to my understanding the horizontal size thing is controlled by like a jumper wire on the chassis. I think it has 1 or 2 of each at like N for narrow, and W for wide. I don't know what to say about the horizontal position going off to the right.

it's been suggested that if you can't adjust the horizontal width, there's a mylar capacitor near the width coil that you can replace to get different results on the width. higher resistance, for instance, will yield a narrower picture I imagine.

don't know what to say about the whining part.

hopefully someone else more knowledgeable will chime in about this. good luck.

Most Wei-ya chassis have a (N) narrower and (W) wider width range jumper wire near the yoke connector pins on the chassis. I believe Wei-ya ships the jumper already set to the (W) wider position.

With the power to the monitor off, pull the jumper wire up off the (W) post and move it over to the (N) post.
