lets see your most impressive warehouse raid pics!

HOLY Smokes... look at that row of SW machines.
Get someone else in on a sale???

PUUUUULLLEEESSSSS

All the good stuff has been pulled already. That pic is 2 years old so a lot of what you see is gone and replaced with newer vids and redemption games.

Here ya go, a place my brother and I were pulling from several years ago:

http://s1199.photobucket.com/albums/aa476/Pigskin621/Big Warehouse/

This was a real live functioning operator still in buisness. He covered a huge area over
several states. His dad started this company after WW2 and he took over the operation.

These pics were taken on our third or fourth trip there. Before this we had already pulled
a minty Zookeeper, a Nutting Associates Computer Space Ball in the fiberglass cab, several
mint Asteroids, red mint DK, minty Tempest....well, you get the idea. The computer
Space Ball was sold to and now owned by our KLOV leader, Greg Mclemore.

I uploaded a album for it here:
http://s1199.photobucket.com/albums/aa476/Pigskin621/Computer Space Ball/

This was only the back warehouse. We never did get pics of the front warehouse but
it had a ton of stuff as well like more modern pins, more Asteroids, Punchouts, Dk's and
more modern Jamma type stuff he was vending.

This place has long been cleared out by now. After we got done pulling from it for at least
a year or more Chatanooga Pinball got in and they took the leftover scraps of what was
left.

Probably the only peice that my brother and I didnt get out of there that we wanted to
get and should have was the 4 player Atari Indy 4. The problem is that game is a bear to
move and it also takes up a good amount of space.

If anyone has been up to Ed Lutz shop in Louisville that minty Subs in his place is the same
one pictured here. Big thanks again to Ed for giving us the lead on this warehouse.

Also, most of the other stuff in my other albums on photobucket has long been traded or
sold so please dont swamp me with emails asking about them. I wish I would have kept
a lot more stuff but thats the way it goes. I cant complain as Ive had WAY more than my
share of primo, rare and HUO stuff in my time. It kind of blew my mind looking through all
of the photos on my hardrive looking at the hundreds of games my brother and I have been
through over the years. What I have posted online is just a small portion.

It was fun digging through this place though. My brother got on such good terms with the
operator that he would leave us in his warehouse for several hours at times to dig around
while he made some of his rounds. We also found TONs of boards stashed everywhere.
Many Qbert, Galaga, Centipede, Donkey Kong, Tempest, Asteroids PCBs and more. It truly
was a haul.

Ken, that's some very impressive pictures! I'm taking it you guys got all the majority of the good stuff! Some gems to me: Dragon Spirit, Sprint I, Crossbow, Arabian, Ripoff, Hypersports et. al.....

I probably started to *officially* collect games around '88 or '89. I can honestly say I have "never" been on a warehouse raid. Now I don't know if Illinois is devoid of them or don't know the right people. I know one OP, but he very rarely gets rid of games because he still has routes for his business.....

For my bucket list... Must partake in a warehouse raid!

Just like the title says lets see your most impressive warehouse raid pics!! I need some inspiration!

Not my best, but here's one I took some pics of:

Here is a few of one I am still working on. Started late August 2010, have sold 75 games/cabinets since and have around 70 to go (have taken in a few trades and bought others.

Thanks, we did get almost all of the good stuff left. Ive heard that years before we got in
there a smaller time operator got in there and bought some games like color Tappers, Star
Wars, Robotrons and who knows what else. He also got a ton of kits from some of the
games they converted along with some XY monitors. We came across and bought some
good parts and kits that we really dug for. I think we got about 4 G08 XY's monitors, 2 6100
XY monitors and 2 or 3 G05-802 XY monitors as well. It was the biggest in size weve ever
had but maybe not the most impressive machine wise. Weve had some much smaller other
bulk buys that have had a dedicated Major Havoc in along with stuff like Food Fight
upright and a Bud Tapper.

I dont know exactly how to tell you to get into a warehouse, sometimes they just almost
fall into your lap. It helps to do a lot of asking around and networking. It also helps if
regular people know you are a collector. Try looking in your phone books yellow pages
in the vending section and call a few up and ask them if they have any old arcade games
or know anyone who does. Ive also come across a couple of nice bulk buys through Ebay
auctions or Craigslist as well. A lot of times people will start listing a few games and you
can look in the background and notice they have more machines. Get their info and call
them. A lot of times someone selling games is not a operator or collector but they are
related to an old operator who died off and they are getting rid of what turns into a whole
ton of a old operators inventory. You have to remember that a lot of people dont have a
clue what a lot of these games are or especially what some of the rare ones are worth.
They could have a ton of games and want $250 for that Warp Warp and $250 for that
dedicated Major Havoc or Quantum sitting there as well.

It helps to have a lot of sticks in the fire, so to speak. Like I said, asking around a lot in
general conversation can get some leads. Ask a lot of sellers what else they have or if they
know anyone that has any more games. We've come across a guy selling one game before
and that was the only game he had but he told us about the place(operator)that he got
his game from. We've also had one guy turn us onto a lead at a gas station because he
saw the 3 or 4 games we were hauling in the back of the truck at the time. It was like "hey,
my buddy has some of those he is looking to get rid of" hmmmm, Oh really :) .

My brother and I have been into one ops place in Illinois so I know there are games there.
A buddy of ours who is mainly into EM pins came across the place and he had no interest
in the vids. There were a couple Tempests, a couple of Asteroids, a Joust 2 and a complete
I Robot(in rough shape though). Think about it, Chicago is a HUGE place to have games
operating in and there were quite a few operators and warehouses around servicing it. Ive
talked to and heard about other collectors having some very nice warehouse raids in Illinois.

John Yates has been pulling games from around the Illinois area for years:

Dont expect any deals or leads though, lol. He does have some quality stuff at times but
he wants a premium for it.

But yes, for a arcade collector a good warehouse raid is something to experience and have
on your bucket list. It feels like being a kid in a candy store when you do one.

Well said Ken. I've had my share of raids both on my own and with Mylstar during our "Blast from the Past Amusments" days. Many of the raids I didn't bring my camera, and even if I did have it I'd be too dumstruck to use it. I would usually walk around writing down titles of games I'd want to pull (if the op was okay with cherry picking). I'll post some pics soon of when I remembered to snap images.

For now, I have some questions about what some of the games are....

I don't think this is Toki as the ape would have a helmet on...do you recall what this game is/was?

Driving game? What is that on the left?

Yep, weve been on many a arcade adventure where we forgot to bring the camera.

That cab with the Ape was a Crazy Kong. He had a couple of those we didnt mess
with. Whether it was a "official" bootleg or a true bootleg I am not sure but it was a
Crazy Kong of sorts.

That driving game was a EM. Midways 18 Wheeler. We didnt mess around with any of
the EM machines either.

Great pics.

The only time I did a warehouse raid was for one game. The guy had 3 warehouses but we only got to see one of them. I wanted to see the others but my dad was in a hurry. I think the guy still operates.

I pulled a Pirate Treasure. They had a couple other things I was interested in but I made the mistake of booking other purchases along the way and after the warehouse so I wouldn't of have had any room for any more items. Wish I could go back but it is a distance from where I was in AR and further from where I am in TX.
