Hello is this thing on?
Been a while since I've done this so let's see if I still remember how.
I've been sitting on this cab for about 5 years or so after grabbing it from CL locally. It had been left standing on a dirt floor in an outside storage shed, the entire base of the cab was rotten and basically Weetabix. The damage had crept up the cab causing delamination and generally dissolving the bottom few inches.
The machine was complete though, so I figured it was worth putting in storage for the day I felt brave (or sadistic) enough to take a swing at it.
I went through the connections and cabling to check it all over, it was complete and untouched, surprisingly enough it was actually in pretty good shape. Replaced the dead fuses and fired it up just to see what would happen. I was surprised to hear the monitor static and see 'something' appear on the screen. Threw in a new starter and even the neon lamp came on, so that's not nothing lol.
I pieced it all back together from the box of parts just to get a feel for what we are looking at. Pretty rough original marquee, badly 'patched' speaker grill, also rough and flaking glass bezel. CP is thrashed and split in many places with the joystick area inserts warped and bulging up. I did have some spare Robotron boards so I was able to swap out the main and the rom board and get the machine to boot. K4900 monitor inside with a fair bit of burn from some other game, lots of collapse and sync issues as expected.
Thrashed T-molding, lock-bar drilled holes in the front panel. Holes drilled in the coin-return buttons and of course all the wood damage at the bottom of the cabinet. At least with it sitting for 3 years in my dry shed has allowed it plenty of time to fully dry of any moisture that had worked it's way in.
So that's our starting state.
