Let's save a very rough Robotron.

Spoke with a local collector friend and he has a few dead g07s in his storage so we are going to pick through to find something to mate to the g07 chassis.

At this point it just makes sense to fix the 4900, mate it back with it's yoke and get that up and running too. I didn't intend to end up with two monitors but my hasty mistakes have landed me here. And tbh I can't see a down side to having a whole spare rebuilt 19" on the shelf should I ever find myself in this situation again.

Agree, put the 4900 yoke back on the 4900's tube and get it working. If your guy can give you a tube for the g07 to have as a spare then all the better.

I'm not certain on the pairings. Green and yellow are typically a pair, red and blue are typically a pair. What yoke is that?
Aren't those telephone old 2 pair convention colors?

Question: Have any of you fine people had personal experience removing yellowing from paint?

I'm concerned about using too much liquid and of course anything too harsh. I have seen one recommendation saying to coat the area in baking soda paste for a few minutes. Also wondering if a magic eraser may work.

Retrobrite seems to work well initially for plastics, but its longevity is questionable. Some plastics work better than others, etc. I would test a small inconspicuous area first. Light coat, and leave it in the sun or shine a UV light on it for 4-8 hours. If it works, spray a thin coat of protective clearcoat afterwards. I'd recommend something like triple thick, but I think it only comes in high gloss. I'm sure others can recommend a better clearcoat.

My buddy hooked me up with a zombie g07 that had been buried in his shed for years. Tube is burninated but we only need the yoke and rings.

I transferred everything over along with the rebuilt g07 chassis but as I suspected I have blown the 1.25a small fuse (tested it out of circuit) so I'm waiting for some pigtails to arrive. Hopefully my tripping over my own shoes laces hasn't caused any other damage.

Sigh. 😔

Is the fuse on the zombie G07 board bad/missing?

Robotron, Sweet!!
Actually I have seen worse looking Arcade Video games, alot worse restored.
I dropped a few quarters into that game. As a kid
😁

Some more progress. I took my paint chip sample to Lowe's and got them to mix the best match they could.

Cracked out the compressor and gun and blew in the bottom of the cab trying to feather in to the existing paint.

Not an exact match but close enough that I can keep the original painted art.

Nice! not bad at all. Mind sharing the code?

It wont do you much good as it's matched to the old and yellowed paint on this cab, you'd be better off getting a corner off the cab you are working on and taking it to lowes/Home Depot for them to match that one.
