Let's play some Zoo Keeper!

I'm a ZK noob (I got mine a few months ago) but finally managed to hit 1,000,000 last night. I credit mechslave's vid on YT for helping me "learn" how to play. :)

Any of you guys still playing?

Congrats on your first milion......what round did you make it to?....what was your biggest jump in that game?

john

.

You know, I'm not sure what level it was. My 2 year old was playing Food Fight next to me, so I was half paying attention to him. My biggest jump was only like 120,000 points though. I had a million point jump, but got hit (and thought it was BS) so it didn't count it. I was bummed :(

What is the highest jump any of you have had on just the second level? I have had 15,000, seems impossible to get any higher.

Do all of you with high scores not trap any of the animals on any of the levels, period?

I still do. On the 4 net boards I start to close up the wall on the last net. Lots O' Lions is still lots o' points.

I just got mine running and I love this game! It's very addicting. I had a friend come over and he had never heard of it, 10 minutes later he's hooked. Got 246,000 tonight and my biggest jump of 60,000. Just need more practice. - Barry

It dosn't matter if you got killed as soon as you made a jump...as long as you seen the score(for the jump) appear on screen , it will count towards your final score.....this happens a lot.

I've had many 60k jumps on the 2nd round, BUT they are quite rare, 6k & a couple of 15k jumps are the normal highest you will regularly get here.

Locking up the animals is a guaranteed way to to add good points to your score.....on the other hand, it's also a guaranteed way of NOT getting the multi million point jumps....practice and experience will tell you wheather to lock them up(for guaranteed points) or group them at the end of a round for a potential big jump.

Good to know. I never saw the score show up, but I knew I had enough animals for 1,000,000 points. According to the game I hit the very back end of the last Moose before touching the ground, but I call BS :D

Yeah, what does the game know. Screw that moose. You should sue. :)

ZK

Just got my new zookeeper running last night!!! Had a few bugs to work out, but now it's running 100%.. can't wait to see where my scores fall.. I could use a NEW joystick grommet.. As mine is toast.. Seems like these are hard to come by as they are the smaller hole diameter..

One other thing. Is it better to jump and then move in the air, or start to move in the direction you want and then jump? Is there a difference?

It doesn't really matter, he jumps the same distance either way(as far as I can tell)

After round 12 it's usually safer and more accurate to jump and then move.

jow.....how far do you usually get in the game...I'm guessing that you don't very often get past the 3rd lion stage(50k lions)??......when I first started to play I had a LOT of trouble with the 2nd and 3rd lion stages....they are very hard to get through ......but in saying that, they are a walk in the park compared to the 4 net stages.

Some things you might not know about the game.

1.....after round 10, every second coconut stage has invisible platforms.

2.....you don't have to jump right over the animals to register a score(you can jump over the top of them, then return to the same side you jumped from..it will count as a jump)

3.....your points for landing on the top platform on the coco rounds doubles each time you land on the top platform(get to the top, then jump down to a lower platform, then jump up to the top one again, and so on) ...eventually after a few jumps you will be getting 300k for each time you jump onto the top platform.....not worth the effort...you will get killed 99.99999999% of the time.

4.....after you get killed, the animals exit and run just a little faster...they also nibble away at your walls with more vigour.

5.....after round 19 .....the game starts counting the rounds starting at 10...there is no round 20, 21 etc.

6......Jason Cram set a new Twin Galaxies world record for ZK a few weeks ago....38.2 million...beating his brothers existing 35.7 million.

my best is weak! around 95k, i think. i don't have my own, though, so i play a friend's, or in mame on my computer every now and then. my average score is 70-80k.

John - THANK YOU!!

Scaboo - holy shit, that's impressive.

Got to play some more on Friday night, and this thread and the tips shared has helped me out, immensely. I'm no where near some of your scores, but still not too bad considering I may have 3-4 hours total of play tops. I'm getting heavily addicted to this game :)

I need to swap out my battery, asap. Its screwing with my initials when the game powers off and on (as you can see).
