Lets play some PAPERBOY

If a 6502 or Pokey is bad what would show on the screen to let you know that during test mode? From what I can see during the test they both check out fine. I have loud hiss from my speaker but cannot get the pot to turn down the volume so it needs replaced.

Anyone wanna help me with my "No sound" issue so that I may enjoy my Paperboy like everyone else here? Pretty please?? I have audible hiss like the volume is turned up all the way on the speaker but still no sound. And how the hell do you get to the ROM/RAM test menu?

From what I've been told is this:

If you flip on the service switch while the game is running, it will NOT run the ROM/RAM test... it will go straight to the sound test.

If you flip on the service switch while the game is off then turn it on, it will run through the ROM/RAM test... if there is an issue, a screen will pop up... if there is not an issue it will immediately start the CPU test...

So if there is no problem... when switched on the game essentially "starts" with the CPU test.

What I get when the switch is turned on first and then the game is powered up is the 6502 test,it then proceeds through testing until finished but it has never showed anything on screen about running rom or ram tests. When the switched is turned on during attract it goes immediately to coin denomination menu. Isn't the screen supposed to flash red when there is a problem with a specific item?

Yeah... that's it... your unit is running correctly. If if wasn't... before the CPU test... when you first switched it on... you'd get an error.

It doesn't actually "bring up on screen" a "RAM/ROM TEST"... it runs in the background at first powerup.

oh okay, the way it is stated in the manual brings you to believe that you would literally see that the game was going through a Ram Rom test. SO if my game is testing 100% fine for all parameters why do I still not have sound? It just doesn't make sense
