That Black Tiger thread is really good, so I thought we could discuss a similar but in my opinion even more awesome game Rastan. I believe it to be the spiritual successor to Gladiator, another game I used to pump quarters into in HS.

My school was a K-12 with about 300 students, and in HS we could leave the school when we didn't have classes. So we would go to this video rental store (now closed and something else) in an old west style building that had a small arcade in the back that had Gladiator and Rastan, and Crystal Castles. Lots of fun!

Here I am playing the first level of Rastan.

damn you. now im gonna be hooked on another game. I have played a couple times, and never got to far, now im interested!

Rastan is kick-ass! So worth $40-50 for a board! I wish I had a full cabinet for it. There was a Gladiator in Utica for $100, I should have gotten that, I could have used it for both games.

Rastan is really good. Played the hell out of it at a Synder's Drug back in the day. Last level is really hard because you can't continue. I also loved Gladiator.

I have a Rastan PCB and manual for sale if anyone wants them, just let me know.

There you go StreetzKing, just buy Les Manley's you won't regret it!

how much shipped to 12538??

I picked up a Tetris the other day that has a Rastan CPO under the Tetris one. Almost made me wish it was a Rastan instead. If I had extra cash, I would go for the PCB.

My older brother and I played Rastan a lot when we were younger. The local candy shop had it. I would be lucky to get through the first level. My brother's friend could beat it on one quarter though. Insane!

I'm happy it is included in the blue elf 2 though I'd love to own an original cabinet some day.

As good as Rastan is, the sequel Rastan Saga 2 is abysmal!

I have a Rastan cab also. I think the game is okay. There are a few things I hate about it though. Whenever he gets hit you never hear it and he never flinches from the impact and before you know it your dead and are like....WTF!!?? The enemies hits take away too much energy even set on easy and none of the collectibles do anything but give you points. Also, where are the health pick ups!!?? I cannot pass the level where you swing on ropes over the fire to save my life. Allot of people like the game and play it when they come over so I thats the reason why I still have it.

First tip, the enemy weapons have a long reach, you have to time your attacks right. Also if you are jumping your attack does x2 damage. This is very important against armored foes, and the bosses in particular! There are health pickups, and the shield cuts damage 1/2. I think you just need to read the faq and give it some practice.

This is the FAQ for the genesis version, but the power-up portion is the the same:

I had an opportunity to buy a working Rastan game for $50 a couple months. Should of bought it. I loved playint this game as a kid

alright so since im waiting for this, any secrets in the game? im curious as why you prefer this over black tiger?

I think it is more the atmosphere. It has a certain I don't know what you call it. :D

I love the way the main character dies and his "WAHHHHH!!" he screams, the level design, even the music, but it gets tired because it is the same for every level, there is an outside music and inside music.

Your character is badass, the pulsating heart on the lifebar. The graphics. It just kicks ass!

it was just OK for me

I played it a little but never got into it. When they came up with Cadash I found similarities in it but loved the Coop play and I really got into that game for some reason. I have 2 boards and the link cable. One day it's a dream to have a dedicated setup for the two.
