Lets Discuss Black Tiger

My first game was Black Tiger. When I use to play it in the Arcade as a kid I always told myself that one day I would own it. I can walk through the whole game without dying, but I still love playing it. One thing to do is save your money til the second lvl. This way you can skip the first weapon upgrade and go right to the next one since you really dont need an upgraded weapon to defeat the first boss. Great game, I'll never sell mine.

i think you can skip the weapon and armor as long as you have the money for the second one? If you mean buy the more expensive one then yea I can afford either the second armor or second weapon in the first level.

It's a pretty good game, I've got an upright with it. Granted the board I have has some graphical issues it still plays and is fun.

Pretty old pic(before I cleaned it up):

Never buy the first weapon upgrade. Always skip buying it and just go for the second one when you have enough money. Some times you get lucky enough to have the money to buy it before the first end boss. But most of the time you can't get enough cash til the next lvl. I hardly ever buy Armor, since there are hidden items in the walls that gave you that. Is the level you are stuck on with the pillars the have the spinning coins as well?

YOU!

anyways

Is that a midway cab? It's hard to tell from the angle. Do you have any pictures of the finished cab?

It's a defender cab(I didn't convert it). Games currently in storage as I have 2 games that I'm working on right now where it is in that picture.

alright so, hit level 4. Met a lot of new enemies, stupid guys who start the fire like the treasure chests, bigger skeletons, the first level boss in the level, and new mummies that charge you?

I made it to the boss quickly, didnt even see the dungeon yet, got crushed by 2 falling rocks that fell at the same time. and the boss is insane. Any help? The boss looks like the ghost n goblins guy. He throws spears like crazy

The rocks are probably what kills me the most in that game. I always forget where they are in the levels.

I can't remember on the flying imp/demon guy. He stops (doesn't fly constantly), right? If so I think you attack the hell out of him, jump/run away, wait for him to stop, attack again... but I can't quite remember.

You're really making me want to pull my board out, run an extension cord to my shed, and fire up my JAMMA cab.

PULL THE BOARD OUT!! Jeez.

The imp boss.. There are a lot of those pieces you can jump on, I think 5 across on the top and 5 across on the bottom. The smaller pieces where you can only jump to and from. I am not sure if he stops moving because I havent seen him stop. In the beginning if you dont run up to quick he is in a ball form and you can damage one of his health bars just in that form, then he throws spears like crazy. kicks my ass.

And NOTHING is worse than spending the 12000 for the armor and getting hit with a rock :( instant death

OK, if he keeps moving try to keep him at whip distance and make sure you're not poisoned (so you're throwing knives). I think I tend to stay on the floor, so I can maneuver away from him faster, than on the pillars.

yea moving on the pillars and trying to turn and shoot is hard. so I think the ground is best, but you gotta jump between the pillars so he doesnt grab them.

I think you can jump left from one pillar to the next, and as soon as you're in the air hit right and still whip that direction... but again, my memory's a bit fuzzy.

Here's a youtube video of the 4th level. Boss battle begins ~ the 4 min mark: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_u4-ZsnWps

The only hard parts in this game are "The Jump" on level 7 and the 3rd dragon at the end of level 8.... The level 4 boss isn't bad if you know what you're doing... the guy who throws chinese stars at you on level 7 is annoying at first.... and of course, make sure you never get poisoned by the purple plant... the backwards joystick is annoying as hell =-P

Just make sure you go through all the dungeons to get max points/coins, and get the fire weapon as soon as possible. There's almost always enough time in the dungeons to make you have more when you come out then when you went it...

Once you know the levels better, you can skimp on armor and weapons faster (although I normally skip the first weapon upgrade anyway).

I got a Black Tiger several months ago. The game is really hard if you don't upgrade your weapon. Armor upgrades are a waste, because you lose them when you die. Get that weapon upgraded, and you will make it A LOT further. Also get the bonus items, they will upgrade your armor for free. so shoot the walls!

There is also a trick where you can fall through the floor to get the the boss in the beginning of the first level, but then you miss out on all the Zenny! Get zenny and use it to upgrade your weapon! If you can save your zenny and skip over the first few weapon levels.

Also getting the hidden items increases the zenny that the monsters leave behind. This is all very important. I have yet to make it past I think the Level 5 humanoid dragon.

Whip him from as far away as you can reach, and back up as needed when the floor flames come from his attacks. Eventually you'll get backed into a corner, where there's a little bit of higher ground... try to time it right and jump over him. Continue attacking and backing away until you're in the next corner, jump over, repeat.

You can't always get that jump over cleanly, but you should be able to do enough damage while backing up, that even if he hits you once or twice on the jump you'll still kill him.
