Hello all you super smart arcade geniuses. Now that I have the ass kissing out of the way, I am looking to purchase a lethal enforcers cabinet and was wondering what other games will swap out. I am new to this can't seem to find the answers I am looking for. Will games like area 51 directly swap out on these machines? If so what other games will do the same? Thanks so much for your time.

I have several different gun games I just pop in to my JAMMA cab... Lethal Enforcers, Deer Hunting USA, Maximum Force, Zero Point, and I just repaired an Area 51 dual layer PCB (destined to be an Area 51/Maximum Force).

I have my Happ .45 cal guns wired to a 6-pin din female plug and then wire little adapters for each board that connect to the gun inputs and have about 4 inches of wire and a 6-pin male plug. I can then accomodate all the different wiring configurations for the boardsets without having to do anything to my guns.

I haven't yet mounted the guns on my candy cab, but that is a project for the future. As it is, they have about four feet of wire after the metal mounting bracket so it doesn't cause an issue while you play the games.

Brian.

Thanks Brian, I am just getting confused as when I look at boards like lethal enforcers 2 they always seem to say non jamma. Is lethal enforcers in fact a jamma setup? Excuse my uninformed questions but I am just trying to wrap my head around how this all works. I do not want to invest in this cabinet if I cannot easily swap out the board with other shooters.

Where are you seeing that Lethal Enforcers 2 isn't JAMMA? Here is a picture of the PCB : http://www.ggdb.com/Picture.aspx?c=Coin-Op&s=Arcade&vid=1539&p=8472

If you look at the edge connector you will see a label screen printed on the board, it says "JAMMA". The guns don't connect to the JAMMA wiring, there are separate connectors for that. So, technically, it isn't "JAMMA" it's "JAMMA +" but you will be able to just swap that board into your cabinent.

what about using a 6 in 1 adapter? could you daisy chain the gun inputs together so the signal would just go to all the boards at the same time, but only be used by the board that is energized?

The optics in the guns are powered by 5v. If you "daisy chain" all the gun connectors together the voltage will decrease significantly. Even if the other boards are not active, the current will leak onto them making the guns unreliable or even non-working for the active game.

If you want to use multiple boards and switch them you need to switch the guns as well, or just hook them up to the proper board when needed.

I saw a auction on ebay for it and it says non jamma. It must just be a typo. I appreciate your help with this.

I have an LE cabinet with Happ guns, and several other gun games I swap into it. I can personally attest that the following work fine:
-Police Trainer
-Sharp Shooter
-Area 51

In the case of Area 51, I have a 68E020-based version (not an R3000-based version) of the board. It's gun connectors are labeled "JGUN1" and "JGUN2", and are 9-pin connectors, with pin 6 as a key. However, looking closely at the screenprinting, they are also labeled "HAPP" over one end of the connector, and have colors (RED/WHT/BLK/BLU) beside pins 1-4. So, standard Happ gun connectors can be plugged directly in without the need for any "adapter" wiring. The audio for the LE cab is also not on the JAMMA harness, but a seperate 4-pin connector. IIRC, this can similarly be plugged directly into the A51 board, but I forget exactly how...I'd have to take another look as the (partial) schematics for A51.

The audio for the LE cab is also not on the JAMMA harness, but a seperate 4-pin connector.

The stereo audio for Lethal Enforcers is on that 4-pin connector, but mono audio does go to the JAMMA connector as well. I have 3 LE boards here now and they all have audio on the JAMMA connector.

Yes, LE PCBs can output audio on the JAMMA connector. However, my comment (and the OPs question) related to a Lethal Enforcers cabinet wiring. My (OEM) LE cab does not have the speakers (of which there are two, stereo) connected at all to the JAMMA harness; they terminate only at a 4-pin 0.100" Molex connector. So, when plugging other games into a LE harness, any audio on its JAMMA pinout won't matter.

You are correct, I didn't completly comprehend the original post.... Probably just skimmed it.

On a releted note, I will be using your High Score mod for these LE boards before I am finished with them.... Thanks. :D

I ran into this problem when I temporarily swapped an Area 51:Site 4 (which sux btw) into my LE while I was waiting on a working PCB. I tied the audio wires from the audio connector to the JAMMA connector so I could have sound for the A51:S4, and I still had my LE sounds when I went back...

Another probably dumb question is the fact that LE uses a mirror. Is this also compatible with these other games? Excited to get a dedicated light gun cabinet but again want to be sure I can run some other fun stuff. Thanks and I appreciate all the responses.

No, that's actually an excellent question. NOT all otherwise compatible light gun games support the mirrored display, like LE does (it actually has like 4 display mirroring options). Some other gun games DO support the mirroring (Police Trainer and Sharp Shooter, IIRC). However, some do NOT (Area 51, IIRC). Anyhow, I decided to make it a moot point in my cabinet. I swapped the vertical deflection wires at the connector to the chassis. This flips the display when viewed directly, but makes the mirrored view appear normal. As a result, any game designed for direct-view will now appear correctly in the mirror. So games that were only designed for direct-view work fine, and for those that support mirroring, I do NOT enable it.

A few other games that I haven't personally used in my LE cabinet, but my I'm pretty sure will work, based on the research I've done:
-Lethal Enforcers 2
-Egg Venture
-Maximum Force

Also, the ArcadeSD board is JAMMA, and has a Happ light gun connector, and is expected to eventually support some Nintendo gun games. I intend to use it in my LE cabinet once that support is added.

The things you need to check for are:
-standard resolution (VGA games won't work, unless you put in a multi-sync monitor)
-horizontal monitor
-JAMMA
-Happ gun connectors or adapters
