Sorry, if this should go in the non-monitor section!

I bring home my lethal enforcers game. It powers on, marquee works, speakers pop like they got power, but the monitor is dead.

There are two dangling cables that look clean and like they need to be plugged in. After much searching I can't find where to plug them in at.

There are 2 slots for fuses. One slot has no wires or fuse. I did try to put the 5amp fuse in like it shows and plug these loose cables in there, nothing.

I posted a pic as well where you can see the white and black wire and where they attach to the monitor board.

Thanks in advance for any tips!

Not sure what the wires you are holding onto are, but the white and black wires right in the middle of the pic are the power wires. In order to get really good help on this you will need to include what monitor chassis it is. For example, is it a Wells Gardner k4900, k7000 model or another brand?

The white and black you referenced in the middle are what I'm holding. I'm holding the ends of those. Sorry, tried multiple times to take a decent pic there. So, good to know those are power. Now, just where to put them exactly?

Wells gardner K7197. I beleive the k7000 series?

Look in the bottom of the cabinet for a small metal block that looks like a transformer. That'll be your isolation transformer. The output is the two lugs at the top; that's where your monitor power should connect. Hopefully your iso hasn't been robbed out of the cabinet... but if it is, they're not very expensive.

It'll look like this:

It looks like it is there. I'll take a quick pic, but there are only 2 metal posts there and already taken up. Hmmm.

Attached 2 pics that can hopefully help. Thanks for the replies so fast!

Hard to make out from the pics. Looks like the harness has been hacked up a bit (large blobs of electrical tape), so I'm guessing it was a conversion kit, not a factory full LE cab.

In any case, isolation transformers usually have 4 lugs, a pair at the bottom for power in, and a pair at the top for output. Take a close look at yours.

I did unplug what was there, which was going into that power supply it looked like.

I plugged in the monitor as you described and the game plays blind, so at least that works. I did switch the white and black just to test and nothing.

There is a large cap on the k7000 board that has white stuff all over the base of it. When I touched it though it felt like some ghetto way to glue the cap on from moving around? Or is that just crap that has leaked out?

Unscrewed it and sure enough there were 4 more at the bottom. I matched them up to the top ones and voila! It worked! Adjusted the contrast since guns were not registering and we are good to go.

The left gun, when fired, makes no gunshot noise, but that's a whole different dilemna!

Seriously, thanks again!

No problem. Glad you got it going.

As an LE owner, you should know tha LE boards have a near universal problem with capacitor leakage of some little surface mount caps on a funny-looking "hybrid module", that can cause a audio issues. The issues are usually more systemic (i.e. effecting all sounds, not just particular ones). In any case, see this thread: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=149877

Sweet man, good thread there. My audio is all 100% except when that gun fires so Ill need to check the wiring there and perhaps something is loose for starters. I just got the game so haven't fully poked around yet.

I replaced the caps on mine and it works perfect in 1 player mode. In a two player mode gun two shots make no sound on the right side of the screen. Its strange.

Something just occurred to me. LE has options for both stereo and mono audio. In stereo mode, the shooting sounds are only in the speaker on the side of the shooter (i.e. when the left gun is shot, it only makes a sound in the left speaker). Most other sounds are split between both speakers (except perhaps the credit sound, IIRC). In any case, if yous is set in stereo mode, but only has one speaker hooked up... you won't hear one gun shooting.

The solution depends on your cabinet and speaker situation.

- If your conversion was into a cabinet that only has a single speaker, simply go into test mode, and change the audio from stereo to mono.

- If your conversion was into a cabinet with dual speakers, you'll need to fix the dead speaker or bad wiring. Stereo sound isn't part of the JAMMA wiring standard, so the stereo audio ouput is a seperate 4-pin header on the PCB. You should be able to trace this up to your speakers. There may be another connector or two along the way. Check everything between the PCB and the speaker terminals, and the speaker itself.
