Having some issues with my lethal enforcers light guns , when I use happ 45s everything works great no issues.
If I install the origional style justifier revolvers all I get is screen flashes and reload sound , no shots register no fire sounds. I've tried testing in cal mode and I get nothing.
Any thoughts or input would be a great help , Ive hit the wall on ideas :(
Edit: if I point the guns at a fluorescent light they then fire off rounds ... wtf

either the optics are dirty, optic legs are broken off, the lens is dirty, or the monitor is too out of adjustment.

you'll have to open the guns to see

Went through the guns allready everything looks ok inside. I've tried adjusting brightness and contrast , no change. The happ 45s worked fine, these guns just aren't cooperating.
Going to cap the monitor and see if that helps, guess it couldn't hurt

Do you have the connector reversed on the board? It'll give those symptoms.

Just to be certain, you are using these on a Lethal Enforcers pcb?

I know these are both kinda simple questions but the connector can certainly go on upside down, and I know for certain the LE guns don't work on other games.

Worked on a bunch of these LE's. The issue your describing has always been bad optical pcb or dirty lens in my expierience. Like Mecha pointed out, the optic in there will break one of the little wires going from the optic to the pcb, that's an easy fix. The optical boards do fail as well.

yes im testing these on a dedicated lethal enforcers board/ cab ive gone over the pin out a few times already to make sure some of the wires are not swapped.
these were originally tested by the seller on a non lethal enforcers board and were working at that time

ive opened up the guns and dont see anything apparent, will re flow solder maybe that will help

Based on what I read above, I concur this is a bad photo transistor or optic pcb.. the pcb is pretty simple so would replace the transistor first. You could try bumping the voltage to 5.2 to insure good +5 is all the way to gun pcb.

Unfortunately you can't just swap the optic pcb from the happ gun but the sega justifier looks similar on inside.

What I do when I have a gun that does not work.

1. make sure connector to optic board is seated all the way.
2. use a dental pick and GENTLY push on each leg to the optic and see if it is broken.
3. Make sure trigger switch is working.
4. Make sure none of the wires inside the gun have come loose from connectors etc
5.Make sure the optic itself is clean and aimed correctly.
6. Make sure lens is clean and in place.
7. If all of that checks out then I usually pop in a spare optic board and test.
8. If that does not work I meter wires for continuity from inside the gun to the connector at the other end of the hose.

Just had this problem

Just had this problem on a LE that hit the floor 3 weeks ago. After two days I completely pulled the guns and tried them on a Area 51 to independently test. Found that the way the wires are arranged the optical read line sits just on the outside of the larger hose that protects it. Causing a rub and ground issue that took a long time to trace. Don't just trust your continuity. Mine would buzz, but the grounding caused bleed off that dropped the voltage to around 4.1 at the optical board. It needs 4.8 or higher from my research. Maybe someone here can second. Pull the board and check the optical leg, if it doesn't have a retainer but is till attached, (check the bottom for lifted pads too) use hot glue to give it good shock absorption. I have 5 cabs with light guns in a public setting and haven't replaced one yet, just rebuilt them, and have had outstanding results with this. A method I learned here. I know much of this is a rehash of whats already here but thought I'd add my two cents.
-Good Luck!

Thanks everyone for the input so far, I'm going to figure this out hopefully .... eventually.
Waiting in my chasis to get back from being repaired then I'm going to dig into this further
Has to be something with the guns themselves as the happ guns work fine , so I'm going to go through both of the guns again and see what i can find. Also my power supply has been acting flakey so I might as well replace that while I'm at it.

I tested my LE guns in my area 51 cabinet and can say with 100% certainty that they are not compatible with the Atari games. So if the seller said they were tested with something other than LE, I would be curious to know what games. Maybe they work in other Konami games?

In any case if you are testing on an LE board and have tried reversing the plug, I think the others offering advice are probably on the right track. Must have a component that isn't working correctly.

I was told they tested them with an Area 51 board and that they were working. :(

Nope that's bogus info.

I can tell you with 100% certainty that they are not compatible, and will not work on Area 51.

Well that sucks, I don't want to jump to any conclusions but looking back at my PMs that's what I was told they were tested on A51 before I bought them.
Still going to try and get them working I haven't given up yet

Hey don't wanna hijack this thread or anything but I am having a separate issue. I bought a used le gun off ebay but it has two separate 3 pin molex connectors, 5 wires in all and mine board only has 4 pin connectors any idea why?

There is a second harness that reduces it to four pin , red, white, black , yellow , orange isn't used

Well I'm making some progress. Capped the chassis , replaced the flyback.
Guns now work in center of screen area if I have contrast all the way up, i made some adjustments to monitor and if I turn down contrast any guns don't register again.
