Have a Lethal Enforcers 2 that is having issues with the guns registering properly. They either do not register at all (no flash, no sound) or they register only at the very bottom of the screen. It's not the guns - I've tested those on other machines, they work just fine. I've tweaked brightness on the monitor and the power supply. Could this possibly be a board issue? Something with the monitor? Any info is appreciated!

I looked at the schematics for Lethal Enforcers 2 a few months ago and it looks like the gun "HIT" functions go through a custom chip unlike the first game where it's standard TTL. as such I had nothing to suggest for that other LE2. sucks

Welcome to the club..... I had been running LE1 in my LE2 cab, then picked up a Cactus Canyon pin so I switched back to the LE2 PCB (To match the theme) and have the same problem as you. Blows

i got one of those new back in the day and even new, it at best was 1/4 inch 1/8 off true aim,
or did not hit /and or blank shots , one of the reasons it has low appeal/value
clean all mirrors/glass/gun lens, , and adj 5vdc to about 5.25 helps, and screen size to 1/2 inch less than tube, and adj. a bit bright for screen

(extra credit) and if you can transfer board/guns into direct front view monitor cab that helps too, it does not like the mirror and glass combo

So you think this would likely be a board issue then and not an issue with the monitor itself? That's the way I was leaning but wasn't sure if it could somehow be the monitor since I've ruled out the guns.

This one has no mirrors - it's a straight shot, unlike LE1. It just doesn't register at all, which is very weird as it was working fine until recently.

So funny you mention Cactus Canyon, I am also looking at getting one of those for our charity arcade. ;)
They look good together (Unfortunately I have to run LE1 for now) :(

Ok I just keep playing with this thing and it's getting closer. I adjust the monitor and adjust the monitor and adjust the monitor and it is now registering in about the center 50% of the screen. The upper left quadrant is absolutely no go no matter what I do. So I now think it is likely not a board issue, but something else. Again, the guns register perfectly on my Time Crisis 3, so I don't see how it would be a gun issue but I could be wrong. Could a power supply be the problem? Or do we think that it would be the monitor still?

if +5V is low getting into the gun then that will definitely affect its accuracy. if the power supply is old or if you've never actually measured the voltage, these are items that require your attention. if you dial the Screen way up and it still doesn't track well then I would suggest checking voltage next. if you find a 74xx TTL chip on the main board near the gun headers you can test voltage there like in my picture noting the location of the U-shaped notch or pin 1 dot:

compare your reading at the chip to what you have at the power supply end (+5V and ground lugs for screw terminal power supplies, red and black wires at 9 pin plug for AT 200W/XT 150W style box power supplies. I encourage taking the main board out and cleaning the JAMMA edge with a pencil eraser, dirt here can reduce the voltage getting in. ultimately getting 5.15V to the chips should be a sufficient target, then try the guns again.

Really appreciate the help. Will be giving this a shot later this week. Question, is there a good power supply replacement to put in this one if that is the issue? Pretty sure the one in there now is the original.

I'm certain it's one of the big XT style 150W ones cause Konami used those on everything, and those aren't made anymore. you'll have to run with AT style 200W and live with the hole in the back or you can do this: https://www.arcaderepair.net/2023/12/30/solving-the-unobtanium-150w-power-supply-dilemma/

unfortunately I lack better pictures so that's all I got :(

Update on this one - we wound up doing a monitor swap and now it works perfectly. At least currently. We had swapped power supplies and it made no difference. But the monitor did and it's playing like new.
