Let the TRON price gouging continue......

Just to show everyone that I'm in complete agreement, the time I spend on these things is excessive, it's ridiculous and probably bordering on ocd.

Let me just be clear that I think his restorations are awesome. I wouldn't go so far as saying I couldn't do it but there's not way in hell I'm going to even try. Maybe at some point in the past but I just don't see any 300 hour vid restorations in my future ;)

Mine either *sigh*

First of all, you're gonna spend close to a grand on art and a new monitor(if you can even find one) then you have to deal with the rest of the game. http://cgi.ebay.com/Tron-Arcade-Sid...158?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c177ceffe Now I just need to find a $900 WG monitor. Anyone have one?

Ahahahahahahahahaha, ink jet side art. Yep, that's all you'd need. Maybe ask them if they'll print you up some inner art, shroud art, a CPO, marquee and 2 BL plastics. Looks like they do great work.

yeah, nice sale, chris. that went for a killer amount of cash. but considering the amount of work you do, if you were to put billable labor hours into it, i'm sure you'd come close to breaking even. but you do nice work. that's one fine tron.

Gouging? Trons were never cheap in upstate NY. I have around 750 into my origional unrestored Tron and It is not nearly as nice as that one .

Wow

Looking at those restorations I see what you mean. I've put 60 hours into a machine before and thought they looked good.

I stand corrected. It is apparent that your working too cheap now.

I think if you would have posted a link to your restoration you would have gotten even more cash.

All I can say is wow.

This thread finally seems to illustrate well the potential level of restoration one can do on a game and how it affects the value. It also shows that consumers know the difference between a half ass restore and a top end one.

The only thing stopping me from a full Tron resto is available spare cash. I would love to have the new plastics that Phoenix sells as mine are faded. Theres no way I could even come half as close as Chris did with his resto; its better than new!

Tom

I don't know why anyone complains about prices especially when a movie comes out for a high profile game. It's just so ridiculously stupid.

Thanks for posting the correct response to all the whining. I would love to see some of you guys buy one of these as a project and really put the time/money into restoring it. First of all, you're gonna spend close to a grand on art and a new monitor(if you can even find one) then you have to deal with the rest of the game. Anybody that's willing to do all that work and let their machine go for anything under $1500 would be an absolute idiot.

I could not agree more... Hence the prices on some of my games :)
