Let the TRON price gouging continue......

Then you have little kids like this on craigslist. Some punk that thinks he should be able to determine arcade prices.

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/scz/clt/2084658416.html

It was removed already. It was a response to tron for sale and he posted a listing saying "wow bend over and take it without lube how about the $500 that it is actually worth. Just because a new movie is coming out doesn't give you the right to gouge an unsuspecting person or new collector."

Is there any $500 trons left out there? Pretty lame...

Its not the sellers who drive the prices up. It's the buyers demand. I say more power to the sellers. You make it sound like a crime when someone tries to make a profit. Gimmie a break. This is America for crying out loud!

I say your wrong.

Thats okay if you say that. Lots of people like yourself don't understand supply & demand. Buyers will dictate the market price for a particular item... not the seller. Seller's can list items at any price but its the buyers that bid on it that will determine the value.

The only crime in regards to pricing is when it comes to gasoline.

The end result is that, about 6 months - year from now, there'll be a few more TRONs on the market than usual, `cause non-techy people who bought them during the mini craze (and I honestly think it's very small) will be dumping them due to something breaking.

It's not price gouging... Unless there is someone standing there with a gun to your head no one is forcing you to buy any game at any price... If someone wants to pay over $2000 for a TRON than more power to them. I've been offered that for mine but I have no desire to sell.

Lemme tell you something. Chris goes overboard on his restores. 'Why' is anyone's guess. He used to restore classic cars and I think his attention to detail carried over to this hobby. He researches the history of even the smallest of parts, then cross-checks other manufacturers and their standard practices and then finds a way to replicate or one-up the original. If something is silver, most of us would just find a close match in spray paint. Not him. He'll have it chromed, electroplated or dipped in molten silver. What would cost most of us $10 and 2 hours of our time will run him $1000 and 2 months. The man is insane. I am actually embarrassed to show him my restored games. The price of his restored machines, while maybe not worth it to many of us, is not out of line for what he does. Did anyone see the man's Paperboy or Major Havok restoes? How's about his Journey? I have seen other people's idea of 'restored'. In Chris's world, where you left off, he picks up, strips down and completely redoes.

I'm not hating. If that's what it takes then that's what it takes. I just don't see where all that time is going personally.

I think it's in the breakdown/ disassembly/ sideart, cpo and inner art removal/ cleaning/ re-doing/ re-assembling, etc. I am not hating either, I could never do that, but I am just telling you what I know. 300 hours does sound excessive, and I am sure he really meant 250.

Let me just be clear that I think his restorations are awesome. I wouldn't go so far as saying I couldn't do it but there's no way in hell I'm going to even try. Maybe at some point in the past but I just don't see any 300 hour vid restorations in my future ;)
