Let the Tron price gouging begin!

I've seen Tron's randomly sell for ridiculous prices on Ebay long before now.. and I mean SELL and not just list high, so this should really be no surprise. I've thought about putting mine up for sale at a ridiculous price mainly since I don't want to get rid of it, but I would if I could score $1500+ why not try?

If someones ready to drop a couple g's on a nice restored one, I'm more than happy to let mine go, it has new everything. I'd rather have a quantum anyway.

I knew this was going to happen. I had a friend who runs a theater call me to see if I had a tron he could loan while they showed the film, which I don't. He mentioned he might be looking to buy one and I warned him that with the new film coming out...the price was going to sky rocket.

I hope they all get the high prices they are asking for! The people willing to pay are the type that would never become an enthusiast/KLOV'er. They want a showpiece for their home/mancave.

KOLV'ers (myself included) would not pay more than $700 - $800 and we all know that the art alone is $600.

And then they're going to have to choke on it when they get bored and want to sell it in 1-2 years! Can't wait to see people take the loss on them. For me, I wouldn't even sell mine for $4k...too much blood, sweat, and tears in it:

The thing is, a restored Tron is at least $1200-1500. Even if you could find one for a cheap $400 KLOV price, $600 for artwork, and at least $100 for other misc (joysticks, etc.) puts it close to $1100 in parts alone, and you couldn't pay someone to do the rest of the restore for $200. That being said, none of these offerings are even close to that.

I think all the price jacking is retarded. Put all your Trons on eBay the day the movie comes out with a starting price of. 99 and no reserve. I dare all of ya. Double dare ya! And no "machine is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end auction at any time" either!

Begin? Its been happening for months and I predict it will continue the whole 2 weeks the movie is in the theater and about a month or 2 after. ;)

BTW nice machine Jedidentist

the problem is the tron that guy is selling has major graffix glitch problems the art its about 80% and the joystick is not original and is hel togather with elect tape and wire ties

if it was in better shape and worked proper i dont see why the game would not bring the money he is asking esp with the movie coming out

im cheap and would not buy one for that price but not everyone is cheap like most of the people here

i have a local guy here that has some really good classics (aka food fight ,bud tapper tron ect) in awsome shape
and has hundrededs of classic game boards (a complete satans hollow and goarf set working are just a few)he is ready to sell but refuses to list here because everyone here tries to beat him up on price and wants to buy the board for almost less than what it costs to shipp

I dont think that $1500.00 is outside of the realm of normal but its way too high for us cheap ass tightwads in here. :)

If the machine works and is in good shape I dont see a problem with it.

$1500 isn't out of the realm outside of this place. The full artwork package alone coupled with a brand new monitor(if you can find one) is gonna set you back close to a grand. I'm gonna play the guinea pig and put my restored game on ebay tonight (with a reserve of course) just to see where the market's at. You guys can all watch it, pick it apart, laugh at it or whatever you want to do. If it doesn't sell, no big deal, it can stay where it is along with all the other unplayed games.
