Leland's Ivan "Ironman" Stewart's Super Off Road
Good day everyone! I know there is a thread already about the slave not responding/slave communication errors but that post is 18 pages and none have really found a decent solution.
I recently took over a repair job for a local repair shop and set it back to the way it was when they got possession of it (they had burnt a new set of incorrect ROMs and replaced both Z80s, causing it to not do much of anything). With the board back to its initial set of problems, I am able to get in to the diag/setup screens and the processor test shows the dreaded "slave not responding" or "slave communication error" depending on the board's mood.
I have started to go through and check all the connections to make sure everything is as it should be and could not find any errors (on the board anyway, the schematic in the Super Off Road manaul does not match the bottom board while the one from Quarterback does. https://archive.org/details/ArcadeGameManualQuarterback)
Anyway, I am not to the point where I am going to start checking out the PAL devices based on how I expect them to work (looking at the schematics and such and guessing) in hopes of creating some CUPL equivalents.
Is anyone interested in helping with this? It would be nice to have someone else be able to test as well or if someone wants to help map out the PALs
