Hey guys, I've been looking for some multigames to put out on a route in my area, and I really feel multigames are the way to go. While the competition in this area is really weak, they are numerous enough that I wouldn't put it past at least one of them to report my ass for running illegal multigames such as the old 60-in-1s... so, I'm looking for some legit alternatives.

I'm aware of stuff like Arcade Legends, but they all seem to be home-use only, so they won't work for my purposes.

This is what I can think of - if you guys know of anything else, let me know. If you have any input on these, also let me know - the only one I feel I know a decent amount about is the Neo Geo.

PlayChoice-10
Neo Geo MVS
Ms. Pac-Man/Galaga
Donkey Kong/Donkey Kong Jr./Mario Bros
Pac-Man's Arcade Party
Area 51/Maximum Force
Three Wonders
MegaTouch, etc.

I seem to remember a MegaTouch-style game that had a touch-version of Centipede on it - I'm really interested in this, personally. Anything else you guys can suggest - or any issues with the ones I mentioned - would be appreciated. Thanks!

Namco classics 1 & 2.

NC 1 does Galaga, Xevious and Mappy. It does original, enhanced and two player versions.

I don't remember what is on NC 2.

There's some sort of Taito Space Invaders & Qix multi I've seen that looks legit.

I see multi-games at arcades in Keansburg NJ and Pt Pleasant NJall the time. I highly doubt anyone is going to do anything to you for putting a couple mulit-games on location. If you can buy them legally online then there really is nothing anyone can do. Most classics manufacturers are out of business or sold to mega-corps. And your not taking money from them since these games were developed years ago and no longer are being made or sold. Cept for maybe pacman/galaga.

Nice - there's even a seller of this not too far from me.

Can't believe I forgot to mention those two, seeing as they are very much on my 'Must Have' list. No. 2 has Pac-Man on it, and I'm pretty sure Dig Dug as well. Me and a friend played the 2-P Pac-Man a good bit and had a blast.

I just need to find a cheap, tate oriented JAMMA cab to put it in.

Well, like I said - I've got a lot of competition around here. They mostly just do the Ms.Pac-Man/Galaga thing. If I put a 60-in-1 Cab out there, it would almost certainly swallow up all of their quarters, considering it has Ms.Pac, Galaga and tons more. Assuming they are playing everything legit, there'd be little reason for them not to report me.

Thanks for all the help thus far.

I don't think you have to worry too much about running multigames. I know a guy who has operated 60-1 in his pizza place for many years and no problems.

If you look around, people are operating those Wedges/Ledges things out in CA and they don't stop it. I know an op who called to report them when they started showing up in his locations and the enforcement officers did not care..

I think short of putting out a slot machine or a poker machine, no one is going to give you any trouble.

Despite what some people are saying that you'll have no problems, definitely do what you're comfortable with... honestly I'd err on the side of caution as well.

Think mrbill is right on this one. I mean who are they going to report a multi-game to?

I am pretty sure the programable, formerly Arcade shop, boards are legal. You will just have to prove you legally own the roms. I have worked for a couple of different ops and we have run both varieties, programable and 60-in-1, with no problems.

There is a Donkey Kong, mario Brothers, donkey kong JR that is a legit arcade game. A nice neo geo 4 or 6 with Metal Slug X will probably make money. I bought a one slot Metal slug X right off a route and the game was still on the charts until replay lowered the number of games on the charts. Good luck.

around here there are 60 in 1 and video gambling machines everywhere.

Multi-games

One option to consider would be a 2-in-1 or 6-in-1 multi-JAMMA switcher board that would run original boards. You would need to keep all the boards powered so they don't do the boot routine.

Ultracade is the commercial version of Arcade Legends. They have coin doors etc. Global VR recently released an up dated version called Global Arcade Classics. You'd have to find an older one to have the Namco titles as they had a licensing fight later on and stopped issuing those games.
