I spoke to the company that was supposedly building the new vector monitor tubes and replacement parts for him in Des Moines only to find out that they were shutting their doors for good.

Could this be one of the "failed business ventures"?

They had been around for years and used to repair picture tubes until the LCD market killed them. For around $50-$125 they would repair a bad tube and they had a quick turn around. I wish they were still around. I would like a few more new Vector and Med Res 19 tube's and monitors. I also have a few burn free tubes I would like to have repaired yet.

You must be talking about Hawkeye in Iowa.

Not much to update,
due mostly to me being very busy with life in general,
but I can update a few things...

1) I've partnered with a US-based lawyer and we've examined various options.
(... I won't get into details so as to not tip our hand, but things
are moving along... )

2) I spoke (on the phone) to the person who is said to have taken over Ram Controls. (Dan)
This person is NOT a KLOV'er but is aware of this forum and does lurk occasionally.
He said he would introduce himself on KLOV, so I'll let him make that move
before adding anything else about RAM Controls

However, in talking to Dan I'm told :
- he's known Dave a long time
- he's trying to make good on "some" parts owed
- Dave is [apparently] completely out of running RAM Controls

I think Dan's intentions are good, but anything associated with Dave is bad news...

More to follow...

Anything associated with Ram Controls is bad news for the community
in my book.

Don't believe it. Here are 2 messages I received from Dan about a order from November 6 2010

"Sent: Thursday, April 21, 2011 2:37 PM
Subject: Re: Parts

I have looked at them and have taken an inventory. I am waiting on David to let me know what parts are essential for some of our projects if any and as soon as I hear back from him Ill send you the inventory.

I am dependent on David getting back to me about all of this stuff and he has not.. I will ask him again.

I too didn't believe "Dan" at first
(... I got "conned" into believe "Adam" was real , when he obviously wasn't ),
so I wanted to talk to Dan on the phone.

I've dealt with Dave for 4 years (..and spent many hours on the phone with him
before things went sour ), and I can vouch that , if nothing else,
Dan is for real, and he's not Dave .

I am taking legal comunity fund Preorders at http://totallynotramcontrols.com

Others like you have also PM'd me to offer financial support.

And I may very well start some kind of community legal fund,
but this won't happen until I start any kind of serious negotiations with lawyers.

At this point, I'm still hoping to find KLOV members willing
to offer Legal assistance at "preferential" rates.

I'm also in direct contact with the CA DoJ as they yield a much bigger stick
and have far more legal resources than we could ever afford.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease,
... and believe me, they'll know me on a first name basis...

Thank you for your support,
... and I promise to keep everyone well informed of what's going on.

Like I said in my other post,

I spoke to Dan for over an hour to get an understanding
what the deal was between him, Dave, and RAM Controls.

I'd rather Dan come forward and explain things himself,
but the quick story (in as much as you can believe anything from RAM control)
is that Dave, due to forcible eviction from his rental house,
and various debts to A LOT of folks , turned over all inventory to Dan
as well daily operations.

The thing is that Dan (so I'm told) is not really an arcade collector,
so he still relies on Dave to understand and assemble parts.

How much of all this is really true is anybody's guess,
but a few people are getting a some parts back.

Like I said, I think Dan's intentions are honorable,
but I don't think he fully understands the mess that Dave left behind.

He might be able to help a few folks,
but the majority of us who lost a lot of money ( $300 + )
are still gunning for Dave's head, and anyone involved with Dave
is in a bad spot...

Good to know Dan is making an effort to right the ship. Hopefully everyone else can be satisfied as well. We'll see.

I received the parts today as promised by Dan. I am now even With Ram Controls. Dan didn't have most of the IC's I ordered but he did have Pokeys and some other stuff I could use.

I'm wondering what $3,000 worth of yoke parts will look like... or whether or not those who are owed a cockpit would take such an offer.

I am sure they will just get the cockpits they are owed. They are next in line. I am sure of it.

I can't believe you would even say that, what with the story of the cabinets (DPWitz) not being made, the artwork not being done (Scott Evans and Ritiki) after confirmation he doesn't have the screens and the fact there's no new vector monitors...

The guy is a con artist.
