So, I used to buy the plates from Bob R, along with levelers. I liked that he had the large, medium, and the t-nut style. I occasionally use the large, especially with modified base or reinforcing a $hitty bottom, but the medium ones tend to fit the best.

Where is the go-to now? Ebay, Arcadeshop?

Thanks..

I just picked some up from arcadeshop. $1.95/each. Got 8 so it was just under $16 for that, shipping was around $7.

Thing with the large ones is, on a typical Atari cabinet, if you align the center with the original t-nut on the bottom of the cabinet, they'll overhang the bottom panel slightly. I hate that.

Stay away from the ones from twistedquarter. They aren't spot-welded properly. Had the leg leveler nut that is welded to the base come off on some just from the vibration of my impact driver. Unfortunately lots of arcade vendors are now selling these cheapo bases. Marco Pinball had a great base and unfortunately they have stopped carrying it.

To top it off, i never received my replacement from TQ.

You have installed the plate upside down. The nut goes up (on the inside) and when tightened with a nut from the bottom (on the leveler threads) will never come loose.

Not sure how accurate that would be in a situation where the original leveler T nut is stripped out of the hole. Using the method above would also guarantee that the nut would blow off and the cab fall over because of the upward pressure applied to the nut. Using that method, if the spot welds on the nut were crap then that cab corner would come falling down for sure. Having the nut pointed out of the cab would at least give you some leg leveler threads rubbing on the base and give you a chance to catch the cab.

Besides, look carefully and you can see the nut the TQ bases use is different. They have a significantly smaller contact point to spot-weld to the metal base.

Nope, you are not paying attention. The entire weight of the cabinet is on the bottom nut (when adjusted properly for desired height and tightened), not the spot welded one. Simple Mechanical Engineering.

You're assuming the shoddy nut would hold up long enough to even adjust your leg and tighten the nut. It didn't even hold up to the vibration of screws being installed with an impact driver.

Regardless, you're missing the point, those plates suck. They don't hold up well.

These are the good ones IMO.

Wile it's possible you got a bad batch of plates I have never had a problem with them. I use to get them from Bob Roberts but sense he has been MIA for a year now I had to get my last ones off Ebay which look the same as the ones Bob sold. Yes in your picture you installed them upside down as the welded nut should go into the cabinet bottom and the nut on the leg leveler should be tightened up to the bottom plate once you have the correct height. I have used these on almost all of my games, still have a few to go as I like to put wheels on my games. I just put them on my Star Wars cabinet (work still in progress) and you can see me install the leg leveler plates in this video, skip ahead to the 1 hour 48 minuet mark near the end of the video.
