So I picked up a water damaged Star Wars up right from Vongoosewink last month that he liberated from the ghettos of Indianapolis. The cab apparently spent the entire winter outside with a tarp over it and a tire on top. The cab is water damaged to the point where it is restorable but would require tons of sanding and possibly new sides because of swelling and without a place to get a copy, I might ruin it further in the process with my inexperience with all things wood except for what I was born with. I've decided to donate it to DPTwiz so I can have a new cab to start over with. Seawolf will be picking up my cab tomorrow sometime so that it can be sacrificed to the vid gods so that others SW URs can live again.

I'll be posting about the restore
of the new cab as well as what I do with my old (star wars lounger?) one if I get it back.

Nice to see yet another cab added to his catalogue. I would love to order a couple from him but the shipping would cost more than the cab.

From what I have seen I'm sure you will be very happy with the result :)

Farewell, soggy Star Wars! We saved all we can, the wood was crummy but the metal and electronics inside were surprisingly clean.

I can't wait to see how Brett's repro turns out... (especially as I have a soggy Paperboy cab, if he needs one! ;) )

yep! trip went well, thanks to seawolf meeting me part way. It's sitting in my backroom. I expect to have one to show off around next weekend with any luck! mid week at the latest, since they will be leaving! I copied about 1/2 my paperboy, and never finished the files, and i sold it. So i could use one. I have most of it copied. Here's how i fixed my paperboy, one side at a time...

Finally Started

So after a good long while tracking down someone to do my powder coating. I managed to get someone ultra cheap ($50 for just about anything) So I sent my Star Wars CP parts out to get coated and just got them back.

I fitted them in Brett's sexy repro and it's looking like she's ready to go.

Now I need to apply the art to the cab.
Order and apply the art for the CP.

Get the boards repaired and then put it all back together.

Will post pics as I go along.

I think I'm going to diverge from the norm though and opt for either the Star Wars crib or aquarium. The chair is so 2008.

Ok time to resurrect this bear after 2 years.
Front applied.

Wow, it's good to know that I'm not the only one who takes years to complete a restoration! :D Looks great so far.

So what piece of furniture did the original cab become?

Heh.. I couldn't bring myself to destroy the cab. It ended up going back to DPtwiz's shop to be fixed and restored for either himself or someone else.
