hey fellas....

i know this topic comes up for discussion every once in a while, so i'm sorry for being captain redundant, but does anybody have any idea where to buy a (relatively) cheap scrolling marquee for my gameroom? i don't want anything fancy....4" tall should be more than enough as long as i can program it.

i googled it tonight and came up empty...maybe i'm just searching for the wrong thing or in the wrong place. i don't mind spending a few bucks, but i'm trying to avoid the $100+ ones.

all i want it for is to display a few high scores...as long as it's programmable, i'd think 40 or so characters would be plenty (i've seen ones that display 100+).

thanks in advance for the help.

BetaBrite....

The classics can easily be had for under 100 bucks...
I picked up a standard betabrite classic for 50 bucks shipped about two months ago. The beauty of these is that you don't need the remote to program them if there is a computer nearby. I have created a custom cable (very simple) and use free software to grab RSS feeds on mine.... You can also use the free software to program your own messages without the remote.

If you do end up getting one without a remote, the remotes can get expensive depending on which Betabrite you end up with. I have a brand new remote I cant use as they are not interchangeable.... Not an issue with a connected computer though....

Ebay is usually a decent place to snag a Betabrite...

I've got one that I'm looking at selling. I bought it last year and used it very little in the small arcade I ran. I paid $150 for it including shipping. It's very similar to this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/PROGRAMMABLE-SC...emQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item439bb88edd
It has a remote to program it. I downloaded a manual and will include it if I can find it. $95.00 including shipping. I can e-mail you pictures if you'd wish.
