I would like to start the CP on my Williams Multi tonight and would like to know where to buy new leaf switch buttons. I'm using a completely gutted Robotron Cab I picked up many years ago. I've read a couple posts about different length buttons. Does anyone know what length I should use on a standard Robo CP and where I can purchase the proper colors?

I've played a couple MAMEs with non-leaf switch buttons and the feel is totally different…I really like to have the correct buttons

Thanks!

I used the original wood CP for mine (formerly a converted Joust) and I used the short leaf buttons. The leaf switches will screw directly into the wood.

If you plan on using a metal CP, you will also need the plastic leaf button holders (weather you are using shorts or longs). These are held on by the pal nut and also have holes to screw in the leaf switch.

I got most of my buttons from Bob...

www.therealbobroberts.net

Though if I remember correctly... a couple button colors that can't be had from Bob can be had from www.lizardlick.com

Bob also has button colors that aren't even listed on his site. He had some long taxi cab yellow buttons for my TMNT, they're not quite the orange-ish the originals are, better actually IMO
If he doesn't have a color you're looking for, ask or make mention of a color you need...he might just have it or something close.

I thought I would mention that when I went through making my Williams Multi I also chose to use leafs. Be aware that it requires a lot of space and I ended having a friend of mine make me a metal CP because trying to use the wood CP was near impossible using leafs.

Seriously tight quartered. You move your overlay down your bottom button is too low - you move it up and the joystick bangs that support. You'll also most likely end up having to cut off about 1/2" off the bezel support for P1 as the joystick base will hit it. Of course I found out after the fact and by REV 3 of the CP It worked lol. I think my buddy was pretty tired of making these ;)
There's actually a few sites out there that people mention this issue - wish I would've seen it prior.

Thanks for the info...I'll check out the spacing tonight

For the P1 and P2 button I'll probably just use a standard micro switch button. I'm thinking about only using leafs for the thrust and fire button (and maybe reverse) if room is an issue.
