Hi,

I recently got into collecting/repairing/restoring and got a good deal on a Stargate project. I brought it back to life, but at some point in its life, the CRT was replaced with an LCD. When scrolling at any rate, the intensity dims to the point where some of the enemies are too hard to see. Is common? Is there much that can be done short of replacing it with a CRT?

If a CRT is the only fix, would anyone recommend a model? And where I might find one? I'm hoping I can find something somewhat local to Michigan to avoid a hefty shipping cost.

Thanks!

I have 30-40 CRTs on a rack and we should be able to find you something to get that deconverted and you can come pickup in Ann Arbor.
Its a bit bananas for me right now, as it is the start of local scuba season so it may take me a bit, but I know we can get you a CRT local.

@Mojodog333 this is all you need to know. He'll get you booked up.

I don't have any plans to be on that side of the state anytime soon. I'd be willing to put the work in if someone sends me the stuff. But I'm hoping someone more local can help so the chassis and tube can be together and dialed in.

@Mojodog333 are you able to install a capacitor kit? Don't want to assume anything here ….

Wow, thanks guys! My soldering skills are pretty rusty, but I can definitely do anything through-hole. First thing I did when I decided to get into this is retire my $9.95 Radio Shack blunt wand of PCB destruction and picked up something a little more legit. This will give me a chance to break it in. Thanks again!

I'll find a horizontal tube for you this week and I'll even decap it so all you have to do is get a cap kit, install and then dial it in.
