I'm sure this has been asked a few times. I'm building a JROK multi-williams board and am now installing a monitor. I have a pc Del monitor, but it's about 25 lbs, and it's going to be a problem installing it in a min cabinet.
I've seen an LCD installed in a Joust cabinet. I'm just wondering if LCD is the way to go. It would be much easier for building the mount, but would it look the same?

Suggestions on this?

Thanks.

So the choice is either an LCD PC monitor or a CRT PC monitor? They're going to look about the same regardless, so I'd go with the lighter LCD. Of course, the best choice is a arcade monitor, because it'll make the graphics look nice and smooth.

I recently built a multi, and I'll say decasing and mounting a CRT PC monitor is a huge pain in the ass. I'd rather not do it again.

If for some reason you can't use or don't have an arcade monitor, then I'd stick with CRT. The graphics will be smoother and not as blocky. LCD's only look good at their native resolution, which is a lot higher than the arcade games... Also, CRT's will give you a better black.

Decide for yourself - hook the game up with one of the monitors, then try the other. You don't have to mount it in the cabinet to try it out.

Well, I think I may go with the LCD monitor. Building the mounting will be a lot easier and it won't weigh as much. I'm going to have a hell of a time building the mount for the crt since it has to almost sit on it's back and tilt upwards.

Thanks.

just make sure you provide enough space around the LCD for heat dissipation. LCD monitors are a lot more sensitive to heat than CRTs. I have seen many fail in cabinet conversions.
