Anyone know some good brand or model numbers of LCD computer monitors that match up in size of 19" PAC monitors? As far as size of screen and easyto use with a converter board.

Dell!

In some multicade cocktails I've built, I've used Dell 1905FP or 1907FP monitors.

I was able to remove the monitor's plastic bezel (front piece) and, by leaving the back and side plastic in place, mount it into a 19 inch arcade monitor frame by drilling 4 holes per side and using short screws.

Worked great in the multicade, so I would recommend those. Plus, they might be easy to come by as they have caps fail in the PS section after a couple years, so you can get them cheap sometimes (as long as people aren't just trashing them).

Hope this helps.

Pretty much any quality 19 inch 4x3 will work. Just know that most monitors now are 16x9 or 16x10 ratio. I'd look for one with versa mount points on the back to give you some extra options. A 20 inch lcd would prob work ok as well.

If you want the easy route twistedquarter and other sites sell arcade lcds and some of them will take cga signals without an external converter.

I've been buying the 4x3 Dells from Liquid8technologies on ebay. very reasonable on the 17 and 19 inch models and they'll stand by their warranty if it arrives with a bad pixel.

Craig's list in my area rarely has any lcds, and when they come up they cost more than ebay.

Another question?

can you use LCD's in a faster than speed or cruisen USA? if i find a 25 or something anyone done this before?

You put a 26 inch wide screen in place of the 25 inch crt. They make bezel adapters for it that can be put behind the plastic bezel some games have around a crt.

Just thinking about that is enough to make someone sick. What is your obsession with LCD's? Why don't you use a proper monitor?

Are you asking what my obsession is or the OP's? I was just answering a question.

Anyway that being said I've seen a few of the racing games with lcd conversions and they usually look fine. That being said I'd agree with useing a proper crt if possible. With the current price of arcade lcds it still is an easy choice.

I was referring to the OP, sorry for not making that clear. I can't understand how a widescreen LCD mounted in a 4:3 monitor space could possibly look fine, but I'll take your word for it :)
