Does anyone have any suggestions for what LCD to use. I think this will go into a cocktail table. Right now for testing I have a 17" sharp. Looks pretty good. Looking for a 19". Any feedback will be most appreciated. Thanks in advance

I've had some trouble with the image not expanding to fit the whole screen on 19 ich lcds.

Brands don't matter too much, but make sure you have something with wide viewing angles. Older (or REALLY low-end) LCDs tend to have narrower viewing angles, which would be a problem, especially in a cocktail install. Otherwise, pretty much anything should do you.

I have noticed that some of the Dell monitors have trouble once in a while displaying signal from the cheaper knock off boards. Nixs boards always work on even the Dells.

You think he sells different boards than the other people?

i use Dell that rotates 180,HP which i like the best rotate 180 and Viewsonic that rotate
never had had a problem with those brands

Someone at work gave me a POS e-machines 20" widescreen LCD for free; I'm going to try it out on my 60 in 1 cocktail I'm building. I'm not expecting great results, but we'll see.

I mean the different board styles A or B. Whichever one is the crappier of the two has had the troubles. NIXS usually sells the good brand.

been selling the new small one,as always i replace if anybody has a problem with it unless you burn a hole in the board lol

Is the new small one the A or B board? I haven't looked into these boards in a while.

The new smaller one is a "B" board. For a few dollars more, you should stick with the "A" board.

I have found even 22" widescreen LCDs are not as wide as a 19" 3:4 aspect ratio LCD. To get the proper width in a widescreen, you may have to go as high as a 24" LCD, if you want to keep the native resolution.

Most 5:4 ratio 17" and 19" LCDs have the same resolution (1280 x 1024). The only difference is larger dot pitch on the 19" compared to the 17". The ability to scale a low-resolution input signal up to the LCD's native resolution depends entirely on the chipset/components used in a particular brand and model #, not the panel size.

For a cocktail cabinet, I would avoid monitors that use a TN panel since the viewing angle is quite low. Instead, look for something with an IPS panel, or even a PVA/MVA.

What I've encountered multiple times with different brands of non-wide screen 19'' computer LCD monitors is the video from the 60 in 1 A or B board doesn't expand to fill the screen. Looking at it vertically, there is three quarters of an inch free at the top and a quarter inch free at the bottom. It's not an issue if the monitor allows you to adjust the picture size, most do not.

I can take these same monitors and hook them up to a pattern generator at 600x480, 800x600 and 1024x768 without issue.

I haven't had tons of PC monitors over the years, but I have never seen one that didn't allow you to adjust the size.

yeah all the ones i use allow the adjustments but if you hit auto seems to size it correct

I've never purchased a board from NIXS that didn't work flawlessly with any VGA. Good stuff.
