Laundromat games, using old CRT VGA computer monitors?
I decided to get out over my lunch break and stopped by a coin laundry that I remembered had some games in the past. So, for a current state of coin-op in the wild, I saw (drumroll please):
Two 60-in-1's in dynamo cabs using DELL black 21 inch CRT monitors.
A Crusin' World in nice shape, but with an identical DELL black 21 inch CRT monitor.
What the cheese? I guess reliability of these older computer CRTs is better? They didn't even try to hide them with bezels, it was sad.
I have to be honest, the 60-in-1's looked like junk on the monitors, but the Crusin' World looked great! I was going to chunk my spare computer CRT, but now I think I'll keep it.
Were they running a CGA to VGA converter card, or are most late '98 and up games outputting VGA naively? I'm a little thin on experience with these later PCBs.
