Well, drop-off, actually, as the seller was kind enough to deliver. A very nice dedicated Klax.

Cab is super nice, probably 8.5/10. Some damage on the top right corner. Side art is there and in okay shape, right side is worse than the left. Monitor is good, a little on the fuzzy side. Control panel and overlay are very nice, the marquee and bezel have a little warping but look amazing. Locks were all taken out, because it looks like it doesn't have free play. Plays great.

Obligatory pics:

Looks like there's a little wear on the overlay, but not enough to replace it.

Hey nice looking game even with the little damage on it. I cant remember if i have ever played that game before. Nice find though and total score with the person even delivering it. :)
Thanks for sharing.

One last set.

These pics don't do it justice. The inside is immaculate. It even came with mint condition manuals for the board and monitor.

Thanks. It's no classic, but it's a lot of fun. Worst case, I trade it for a different game. Also be a prime candidate for a MultiJAMMA with a 19-in-1.

Never played that before, but after seeing the cabinet I pulled up Mame. Played uhm - wayyy too many games of it. Ultra-addictive gameplay. Very addictive.
I can see how it would definitely be a quarter muncher in continued play.

Congratulations! The 90's are alive and well.

Flip the switch on the board for test mode, I'm 99% sure there's a free play setting.

You're right, I just missed it on the first pass through. Thanks, that'll make things much easier.

I thought Klax was a kit game.

Dedicated as well, though there isn't a separate manual, only the one for the kit. Half the serial number is rubbed off the Atari sticker on the back, but the one on the PCB matches what's left.

Loved this game in my local arcade. They had the Cabaret style cabinet. Congrats on the score.

I would love a Klax cabaret. I love cabarets.

My cabaret is completely missing the external serial numbers but the board is marked KLX5292. I've always been curious about that. There's no way it's not the original board, everything was way too pristine and undisturbed in my machine when I bought it. From what I understand Atari only produced 500 dedicated Klax cabarets. Anyone know if they just pulled boards off the shelf for the cabarets or they were lumped in with the full size uprights in production for serials? Maybe all numbered KLX5xxx?

I have a KLAX kit, is it a good game?

If you like puzzle games in the vein of Tetris then you'll probably enjoy Klax. It really is unlike any other puzzle game.

Mine is KLX0534, so that doesn't fit. Doubt they made 34 prototypes, so they either started > KLX0000 or made more than 500.

It's pretty fun. It's not some grail of mine, but it was a fun game in a nice cab at a decent price. It is very clearly Tetris-y, and has some aspects of Tetris — sort of like Tetris meets Connect Four or Tic-Tac-Toe. But there is much more to the gameplay, as you have to meet certain goals to pass each stage, and there are some interesting strategies for managing your tiles.

Seller was a nice guy, too. Has an Asteroids upright & spare PCB. Might get the PCB off him to multigame my AstDeluxe cabaret. Told him to reach out any time if he needed work done on his Asteroids.

According to my Atari spreadsheet that I have compiled from multiple locations (mostly old Atari documents found online), Atari made 550 dedicated uprights, 500 dedicated cabarets, and 4800 kits.

What model number is listed on the tag on the back?

Same cabinet as Escape From the Planet of the Robot Monsters. Nice cabinet, especially with the control panel and board area being like a pull-out drawer.

The serial sticker is completely missing on mine. I only have the patent sticker, the FBI sticker, the FCC sticker and the high voltage sticker on the back. Did Atari press the serial number into the wood anywhere on these? I haven't been able to locate anything.
